Andy Burnham has just decided to increase the UK Government's foreign aid budget by £13 Billion

This is a monumentally terrible decision

Foreign Aid should be ZERO.

Even if you believe that having a foreign aid budget is a good thing, it should still be ZERO... so long as you believe in Mathematics

The UK Government debt right now stands at THREE TRILLION POUNDS

That's £3,000,000,000,000

It's roughly 95% of our total GDP

20 years ago our debt wasn't even £1 Trillion, it was £539 Billion, 35% of GDP and people even warned back then that was too high

We currently borrow around £130 Billion per year already and Andy Burnham wants to add to this number

This comes at a price, a steep one, in fact 8% of all Government spending is purely on the interest servicing our debt

We literally get nothing for it, it's taxpayer money that might as well be be burned on a bonfire for all the use it does for us

8% by the way is £110 Billion every single year

For that money we could double the number of Nurses in the NHS

We could double the entire education sector

We could build half a million homes

We could nearly treble the size of our military

Or we could pay down our debt so that the next generations don't have to deal with this

Instead Andy Burnham wants to borrow more, to burden us with more interest payments to give to foreign people who are not our responsibility

We are borrowing money to give it away to people on other continents for free

I have to wait 7yrs to get my state pension when I was promised I’d receive it when I was 60yrs old.

I paid into the system all my working life & was then told it was now unaffordable for me to receive because the country couldn’t afford it.

How then can this government now suddenly afford to find £billions for people that have not paid a penny into the system.

Those of us who have paid in & still waiting should receive a refund for the years they’ve paid in & received nothing in return.

OK, I rarely make a post, simply because they get no traction and I feel like I am speaking into the void but here goes.

I went into the supermarket for the weekly shop the other day.

The same one I used to go to with my mum when I was a kid. Nothing much has changed about the building itself. Still looks almost exactly the same as it did back then.

Halfway down the first aisle though… it just hit me.

Different languages everywhere. Groups talking and laughing, women covered up, calling across to each other. Staff speaking to customers in languages I don’t understand.

The whole place felt different somehow.

Full of people who clearly weren’t from round here and there seems to be more of them every time I go in. I don’t know, maybe I’m just noticing it more these days.

The shelves have changed as well. All the usual brands I grew up with pushed to one side for stuff I’ve never even seen before.

The old regulars who used to nod and say hello are mostly gone now. You walk those aisles and you can’t help thinking how much it’s all shifted and nobody ever asked the people who actually live here what they thought about it.

When I got to the till I paid with my card like I always do now. The ones either side of me were paying with cash. Just normal weekly shop money, but still… nearly everyone around me using notes and coins while I tapped my card. You notice these things after a while.

Outside it’s no different. The high street, the estate, the school gates, the park… everything feels like it’s moving one way and the people who built this place are slowly being pushed to the side. It’s hard to explain properly but it just feels like home isn’t quite home anymore.

I’ve worked all my life. Paid my taxes. Never asked for anything special. Yet I can do a normal weekly shop in 2026 and feel like a stranger in my own supermarket. That can’t be right, can it?

It’s not one big dramatic thing. It’s just all these little moments adding up until you can’t pretend you don’t see it.

A lot of them are settled now. Can’t be removed. They’re here for good and from what I can see plenty are living off the system while the rest of us keep paying in. I don’t know how that’s fair.

This is Britain in 2026.

We urgently need a new government to stop this broken system… before there’s nothing left of the country we grew up in.
