@MRollo112@famexbt You basically touched on why capitalism needs regulations and high taxes to work.
Capitalism is rooted in consumer choice and competition. Regulations are needed to ensure consumers have agency, and high top bracket taxes prevent innovation from being snuffed out.
@johnpunch208@omgsidewalks Dude, Elons parents were millionaires, and he didn't create tesla. He just tried to retcon himself as a co-founder.
Arguing that those who actually create the product are less important than those who monetize it kinda supports the argument that they don't deserve it.
@WEschenbach That $1.90/day rate is not really indicative of anything. Waht might be more telling is that since 1980, the US has had a 6000% increase in billionaires, while the middle class has shrunk by 10%.
@davidamusick@Sierra_rak@TheAliceSmith You do know that 'giving money to the poor' doesn't mean writing a check. It means funding programs, centers, etc. to address mental health, addiction, etc. along with proving housing, food, education, etc.
@RockChartrand What tax hikes are you referring to that did all those things you claim? And please provide detail on the failed promises, higher debt, etc.
@RockChartrand Well, however you portray it, their people have a significantly higher quality of life than those in the US, so why wouldn't we seek to emulate it?

@RockChartrand This guy should not be taken seriously. He never says anything of substance. Just engagement red meat wrapped in high school economic philosophy.
@army1325air Jesus christ, I hope you're being sarcastic.
Trump encapsulates nearly everything you rail against in the first half of your rant.
Like, give an example of a time he personally accepted accountability for something that didn't go well.
@MikeyDiMercurio@Z4BTC_ But none of that is the point. Boomers grew up with unions, pensions, and the rich being taxed 70% and they prospered, only to then have Reagan dismantle it for future generations.
@Josernan@catholicbob I'd love to see this data you reference so confidently. Especially since you think that restaurants are some new phenomenon.
Id also like to see how you reconcile all the data around wage stagnation and CoL
