If you don't start your own biz asap you'll be forced to later
That's the new reality, become a problem solving entreprenuer or do it when you're flat footed
Easy choice
Yep people confuse “don’t care at all” with “outcome agnostic”
If you’re doing all the right things with full effort, then you already know the eventual outcome and don’t “need” to force the issue
Life doesn’t magically begin at a certain age, after a promotion, once you are successful, or after you finally feel ready. It’s already happening
Many wait, and they wait for nothing. Procrastination is just a covert form of cowardice.
While you delay what your soul demands, time vanishes. The moments you’re waiting for pass. And your duties go unfulfilled. Why? Bc you thought tomorrow was always promised. But God says tend to the day.
Everything about being an owner is inverted.
W-2 if you make more you are taxed more AND the Company wants to fire you as you're expensive
In a biz, if you make more, tax rate doesn't move much (if at all) if smart. Also. The value of the business goes up (higher multiple)
As men, we should go through an excruciating amount of pain as early and as fast as possible.
It's needed if we want to be elite.
And yes, it's not for everyone but also people that follow me, reading this right now, aren't everyone.
it’s crazy how important positioning is.
you could take the exact same powder same formula, same everything and put it in two completely different packages, with two completely different messages, for two completely different customers.
take creatine: one formulated and marketed for science, performance, strength & conditioning, bodybuilding. the other for late-menopausal mothers.
same product. positioning is that powerful.
and it’s not unique to creatine, hydration, protein, greens, snacks, every category in retail works the same way.
get your positioning right.
Yes. You don't need your first sale to be some unicorn or first big win to make tens of millions.
$500K sale means ~$150K small business that can be handed over. ~3.33x earnings, achievable for anyone smart who sees this post. Can't sell your W-2 at $150K for 3.3x!
Been thinking a lot about the indomitable spirit of God that lives within us, and how He works immaculate things through those who surrender their will to His own, fully entrusting His timing, ebbs, and flows
The doubt, worry, fear, and despair the Enemy sows is only there to thwart His kingdom on earth, but through Christ we have victory to accomplish the holy and please our Creator and Lord
Aligning our actions and hearts with His Word changes everything -- beginning with us first. How can we be molded so that our lives bear fruit and provide proof of God's merciful love and generous graces extended upon even the least of us
If assets will outpace wages, why in the world would you work for dollars. Don't think this is particularly complicated but people are so far behind. You're not going to catch up to the ruling class saving $5-10K a month
You need an event. A sale, RSU hit etc. Lump Sum hit.
Yep the real key is just starting and not expecting some perfect idea to pop on day one
Start whatever the first idea you have is. 1 week of basic research. Start. Then you’ll be pretty much good to go when you see the next one. Small fee for the millions in upside
Genuinely feel like getting a job and getting a customer are basically equal difficulty these days. If we assume someone is just sending out applications online compared to cold outreaching businesses to sell something to
Job posting gets hundreds of applicants. Maybe company filters it down to like 5-10 people. Then there's 2-3 rounds of interviews over a span of multiple weeks before they decide to hire one
Very similar to cold calling or emailing a bunch of businesses. Business probably gets reached out to hundreds of times from different people. Then if they choose to connect with you you're having multiple conversations before they decide to pay you
Of course leaving out a ton of edge cases here but basic job and basic service via traditional outreach methods both rely on luck. You're playing the volume game and just hoping the tide eventually turns in your favor
But you can get a referral, showcase a portfolio, create content, etc and increase your chances of success. Which is what a lot of people do to get their first job offer or first client. Again point is if you're going to be doing "the work" anyway in either path maybe the idea of starting a business doesn't have to be so daunting
Game has simply changed. Decades prior you throw a dart with "BA in Marketing" on it at some random office job application and you basically have it. Enjoy your biweekly check. But now with 400 applications flying in within 10 minutes of every decent white collar role being posted it definitely begs the question of whether your time could be spent more efficiently
Sometimes it's finding a creative way to get a set salary today with lower future upside. Other times it's finding a creative way to get an uncertain client payment today but with higher future upside. Ultimately up to you on which risk reward profile speaks to you the most
But just know that with either you're still rolling the dice to similar probabilities. You're going to be spending your time similarly. Job is no longer the default safer option anymore. In turn business is no longer the default riskier option anymore either. Choose your adventure
Yeah instead of having some pre-ordained timeline that just creates stress and anxiety it's much easier to just do this:
1) What is most important 3 tasks of day
2) Did you do those three tasks
3) if so, eventually you'll win
That's it. Watching a pot boil will lead to failure
You're also learning an important part of biz, you don't need a lot of SKUs to be successful
Most of your earnings will come from 2-3 items.
80/20 actually applies to products as well (wild!)
Cost of living isn't reversing any time soon. Instead of viewing your career asa long-term thing, just view it as funding your WiFi biz
Hard to do mentally for many (who drank the koolaid) but once you realize it is true, you will be richer, free and healthier long-term
Things I wish I knew when I first started my business 3 years ago
Don’t outsource marketing when you have no idea what works find what works first then use agencies to throw fuel on fire
Focus on things that actually move the needle. The answer is probably better ads and landing pages
AI Maxxing too hard is retarded. No you don’t need a bot to tell you what you’re schedule is that day and automate messages
Don’t outsource things you don’t understand
Remember nobody cares about your product only what it can do for THEM
Don’t launch products that you think would be cool. Call your customers and ask what they want.
Don’t pay an influencer 3000 dollars to post a reel
Treat your customers extremely well 1950s boomer style of customer is (mostly) right will serve you well
Be extremely generous with money for your team when they deserve it and overpay for people that are killers or have massive potential
Don’t try to do every channel at once focus on one and get really good at that first
Don’t invent a new category make an existing product better
Make better ads
Run more ads
Better landing pages
This is all you need for a million dollar business
I am going to teach you how to run paid traffic in 5 minutes
Paid traffic has one major advantage
The control of the flow of traffic
You spend money and you're going to get traffic in front of your offering
You don't need to post and pray that an algorithm will bless you with traffic
I want to preface that there are nuances to this but this tweet will break it down in a way that you can get started to at least validate your idea
Here's what you need in order:
1) A landing page that sells your product
the more saturated your market the more work you're going to have to do to make your offer seem "new"
In marketing "new" is better than what you offer
When "new" becomes "old" you have saturation
So you'll need to figure out a way to make yourself stand out as a new opportunity to give them the benefit they want
2) Ads
If you're starting out, skip video ads and go straight for image static ads
And focus on Meta since it's the simplest and (arguably) the most reliable for scale for beginners, I am sure many people will argue this and rightfully so
There are more networks, but I like Meta
Image ads are simple to make with AI and you can get a bunch done fast
3) Math
When you run an paid traffic you need to be aware of 3 metrics
AOV = average order value
CAC = customer acquisition cost
LTV = lifetime value
When you're starting out, focus entirely on AOV and CAC
You want them spending as much as humanly possible upfront to boost your AOV
Because the higher the AOV the more you can spend to acquire the customer so the higher your CAC can be
When you're running a campaign, you want to spend 2 to 3 times the AOV per ad
That's how you give a fair chance at testing
If the Return On Ads Spend (ROAS) is not enough to make you profitable either immediately or long term (LTV) then you turn it off
Like I said there's more nuance and it is easier said than done, but this is really it!
