@vincent_vancode@tamarranicole I hope you also researched birth trauma because my epidural followed by an emergency c-section was infinitely less traumatic than my ‘natural’ birth. I also hope you choose to avoid anaesthetic for your next operation because death is always a potential side effect.
I can clearly remember sitting in a house in Edinburgh trying to say the name Mhairi (I’m Australian) before getting slaughtered for also saying ‘moor’ wrong. Anyhoo, I’m glad I found you, thank you for your service !
@MhairiMcF I am 1 hour away from finishing the audiobook of Mad About You, The first of yours I have read. Your quirky turns of phrase, nuanced characters and humour have me hooked and I’m thrilled you have so many more books I can devour…tbc
I adore your original similes and metaphors and it is so refreshing that minor misunderstandings are cleared up rather than the only reason the plot works.
Also love your profile saying you’ve been explaining how to pronounce your name since birth 😂…
Hey America, I just want to clear up a little misconception you all seem to have. 🧵
Australia has guns.
Yes, really.
I drive past a gun shop on my way to the supermarket. At first I thought it was a tattoo shop, because the exterior is so nicely decorated.
@GenIsSolo I read that and thought, nah, that’s not me but, actually…we were certainly expected to put in 100% most of the time. I’ve unpacked that a little with my sister recently but this is the first time I’ve connected it with the way I act/feel now. I accept my output into the world
@GenIsSolo Good food/exercise decisions or the energy to enact them. ALSO I love my hobbies and don’t want to take time from them. I hate that I hold myself to stupid standards when there’s so much more to it.
@GenIsSolo General ‘thin is attractive’ idea, that lack of self discipline (food/intense exercise) is a person failure - I know intellectually this isn’t true and I’m successful in many ways, a genuine desire to be fit and healthy. I don’t have time, money or mental capacity to make 1/2
@alliewonder 5 years out from a primary teaching degree (with kids of my own), I still haven’t even applied for a full time job because my family and I will not come out of that 1st year of teaching unscathed.
