Fuel depot owners benefit by buying fuel more cheaply and selling it at much higher prices.

Major filling stations benefit by keeping pump prices high and making large profits on every litre Nigerians buy.

The government benefits by claiming the market is "deregulated", allowing them to avoid doing their job.

Pedestrian arguments like this tire me bcos it plays into the hands of a government that’s not interested in fixing anything. Lack of Dirt or trash isn’t the reason why Netherlands does not flood! I don’t know why we keep going back to this topic!

The reason Amsterdam doesn’t flood is bcos of billions of dollars investment in world class flood protection engineering & technology.

Also Dubai floods every year too and Dubai isn’t dirty but they have terrible flood protection systems which they are currently investing billions of dollars building proper sewage reticulation systems, flood detentions systems, flood gates and levees, etc to fix the flood problems! Few years from now when flooding becomes a thing of history in Dubai you’ll be here still blaming Lagos’s dirtiness which is still a problem caused by inadequate government infrastructure for it.

Have you also ever asked yourself why no matter how badly Lagos floods, Eko Atlantic is NEVER flooded? The simple reason is bcos the private company that built & owns Eko Atlantic engaged the same Dutch engineers that designed the flood protection systems in the Netherlands to design that of Eko Atlantic!

Even if there’s no single trash in Lagos, Lagos will still be flooded every rainy season! Until we spend money on building flood protection infrastructure. Check out this video, to understand why the Netherlands doesn’t flood.

"Entrepreneurship" is to the "intellectual" class of Nigeria's older generation, what rice is to the political class.

I remember that we added "Entrepreneurship" to WAEC, because my younger brother had to do Fishery, among many other useless courses.

Part of my electives in the university was a course on entrepreneurship.

During NYSC, they taught "entrepreneurship" all through the 3 weeks.

When would you look in the mirror and realize that "entrepreneurship" courses is as useless as sharing rice every four years and being surprised when there is no development.

When you are ready, you will identify the reason why youths are jobless, businesses are closing down, and actually do something about it.

Until then, you can continue to parade naked on the streets, but me I will not join you to exclaim that the king is wearing new clothes.

Personally o, I think that the reform is very ineffective, and of lesser value than the paper it was printed on, and whatever amount that was spent on the entire process would have been better used to buy equipment for the vigilantes and security forces trying to rescue the tiny children that bandits have kidnapped for over 40 days.

Buhari borrowed $1 billion loan to fund the rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery.

That loan was backed by a pledge of 67,000 barrels of crude oil per day & repayment started in 2024, with maturity in June 2029.

What this means is that we are using crude oil to repay loan for a non-functional refinery till 2029.

But the real question nobody is asking is why a fresh graduate needs 6 weeks of orientation to learn civic values.

That’s what 16 years of education was supposed to do.

Fix the schools first.

Doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare workers is one of the majority reasons they won't dare to cancel NYSC.

Remove NYSC and the govt will suffer alot, there won't be doctors to man Military, Police, FRSC, EFCC, NDLEA clinic, PHc will be run by CHEW, our schools won't have teachers etc.

NYSC was designed for national integration but unfortunately it has found another usefulness, which is cheap labour.

You have limited knowledge on what your parents did to send you to school.

Most Parents won't tell you the people they begged for money to survive and do things. They won't tell you the uncles and friends that supported on the way. You only see your mother hustling, but I will tell you now cos your mother selling akara won't tell you.

It is deeply frustrating that the conclusion after deliberation is to extend NYSC.
Years of neglect in foundational education cannot be fixed by adding 3weeks to NYSC. Invest in schools and teachers.
This isn't a reform; it is avoiding responsibility.
