leaving this platform for good now (as if I haven't effectively left years ago lol).
I made an account on that other website that you can see in my name but dunno if I'll ever get back into tweeting (skying?) as much as I did like 10 years ago when it was actually fun.π€·ββοΈ

@VinceValholla That this change will affect distro companies more than artists.
If this change was on a per-user basis you would potentially have a point (if we ignore that artists can get past the threshold with other DSPs). It isn't though.
These last few days I've noticed that a lot of people have a very warped view of how many streams the average artist receives on Spotify, so figured I'd do a little poll. What's your best guess:
80% of artists on Spotify have fewer than __ monthly listeners.
It might just be 4$ per 1k streams but it adds up across a catalog.
If you got 100 songs that get streamed 800 times a year that's 320$.
So no, if they were worried about money that never gets paid out anyway, they would have an overall stream threshold. It's a marketing ploy.
Maybe you've heard the following excuse regarding this change:
"This will only affect artists who never earn enough to hit the min. payout threshold of their distributor."
This is a lie. Payout depends on your overall streams, regardless of how many songs they come from.
Unlike eg. the Youtube Partnership threshold, this disregards an artist's overall amount of streams and instead monetizes individual songs.
This means artists who don't have any big hits but instead make their money from their big catalog could end up losing their entire payout.
@TeamYouTube I have an artist channel on YT and use 2 distributors (Distrokid & Soundrop). Only my Soundrop songs show up on my channel, the rest are on a separate Topic account (tho some vids link to my channel). Also my Youtube Music pages are separate. How can I connect them?
@TeamYouTube https://t.co/JLIKYMY6kf This is my artist channel and this is my topic channel: https://t.co/4qzcsaoFTj . The songs that I also uploaded to my main channel (which are most of them) link to those videos when clicking, however none of them show up in the Releases tab.
