Operation “Fern” is in motion. However there was another duck brooding with her today. This makes me wonder if I still need to separate her with the ducklings from the rest of the flock, or if they’re ready to share parental responsibility. Anyone have experience?

Everyone’s hanging in the orchard this morning except Fern, who is brooding over unfertilized eggs :/ I really don’t want to get a drake but my heart hurts for her (she’s my favorite). May just get a few baby runners for her to mother
