Would this happen to be a photo from the supposed live performance of when I paint my masterpiece?
Levon on mandolin, Robbie on acoustic (and playing an Eb) and Richard on drums. Too bad we can’t see Garth or Rick!
Looks to be sometime in 1971.
@cosmic_cowboyy Book Faded Brown has become one of my favourite Danko songs. Whenever I listen or watch any of his later preformances I just can’t get over Rick. He just truly loved preforming and him playing this song always gives me a good feeling.
@cosmic_cowboyy Finally gave Times Like These a good listen along with Ricks tracks on Jubilation. He definitely had something going towards the end. Wish they had completed that acoustic album. Can’t wait to hear what you have to say about Rick around this period soon enough. Keep on working!
@eathedocument It’s definitely more akin to contemporary than other stuff released at the same time. It’s definitely a studio piece. Something that wouldn’t translate well to 4 or 5 guys on stage. To me Ram as a whole is a lot more modern than people give it credit for. Beautiful album.
@TheBandPodcast Interestingly, Robbie used his Tele even after getting his famous last waltz Strat, something he did rarely after 1973. It looks like Clapton also had a go at Robbie’s Tele at least in passing.
@mjreym@micotoronto@jimbobrays_@_JamesGtfo I mean all through our history, commercial music has always been short. 2 and a half minutes. Then it became 3 and a half. You have people like Bob Dylan who put out a 5 and a half minute song as a single release and everyone is in arms and they need to split it into two parts.
