@ajmahler@RealBrentGobat Thanks for the tip! When I try them, I'll get a vid to check form etc ๐. I'll prob just work up from bar weight only so I don't injure my old self ๐

I'll be 50 next year and sometimes think I left it a little late in life to start lifting but still enjoy every aching minute of it ๐ซ๐.
I've put a bit of weight on over Christmas but intend to make the most of the extra calories ๐ค๐ฌ.

Figured I'd do one of those "How it Started, How it's Going" posts.... So here's mine. After 22 years of heavy drinking I finally quit earlier this year and decided to make the most of my remaining time here :)
5 years in and still trying to better each workout 1 rep at a time.
There are times when I wonder how much further or how much longer I can push myself ๐ข... But then I realise I'm almost 50 and in the best shape I've ever been ๐๐
Physio sessions have now ended & I'm slowly starting back with some lightweight bicep workouts. Mostly stretch work but also incorporated some cable curls.
Still a few weeks away from being fully healed but I'm back on the frontline at work again at least ๐๐๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐
Downside to 3 days in the gym......

In totally unconnected news..... the ultrasound on my arm showed tendon damage from the incident at work several weeks ago ๐ฉ. Now awaiting a physiotherapy referral and STILL can't lift heavy ๐ซ๐ญ
Picked up am arm injury at work whilst restraining a charming fella who assaulted me and 4 colleagues on our last night shift. This now involves resting my left arm for several weeks whilst it recovers so bicep work is on hold. More time for abs though ๐. Every cloud.... ๐
I didn't quite manage to hit the 125kg bench by the end of May, as I'd hoped ๐. I did get it on the 3rd June though ๐๐. Not the prettiest of lifts but I'm absolutely stoked considering I couldn't bench 50kg 5 years ago!
Switching to volume for a few months now ๐
Haven't hit the 125 bench I was aiming for... Yet. Switching it up for a couple of weeks to concentrate on volume lifts then I'll have another crack at it.
Also currently sat at 107kg, so a determined effort to get as close to 100kg as possible by July
Failed a 120kg bench today ๐. I've been ill with that flu type thing since January. Probably shouldn't have aimed so high so soon ๐ฉ. I'll have another go at it in a couple of weeks. Still hoping to hit the 125 by the end of April ๐ฌ
On the plus side, triceps felt good ๐ฌ
