@LiterallyMiguel It's worth noting that the orbit of Kaprosuchus was located a bit higher than in Mahajangasuchus. Even a bit higher than in your skeletal as the left side of the skull was deformed slightly, and the proper right side of the skull was never figured in straight lateral view.
@i_paleo19219@BeyondOur_W0rld It doesn't have a beak in the back, but it's just skin right on the bone. It's not really a separate flap as a lip, altough it looks pretty close.
@i_paleo19219@BeyondOur_W0rld I guess it's buccal tissue, but I'd say those are cheeks and not lips, as it's located mostly posterior to the maxilla in this case and posteriorly to where the teeth would have been.
@Evoincarnate@Coolio_Art S. aegyptiacus has that too, and so do baryonychines. It's a photograph of one of the maxillae in medial view and the grooved anterior area is an articular surface where the maxillae would have connected. The lateral side has similar foramination to S. aegyptiacus.
Progress on the Oertijdmuseum Edmontosaurus "Monty". Finally uncovered the overlapping tendons on our first block! Nice to see how articulated the bones are on this side.
We have most of the skeleton, but it's in such hard boulders it will take a few more years to finish.
@Mitery22 Sexual dimorphism in animals exists. But if all Farak Formation specimens differ from all Kem Kem Group specimens, then you cannot support the claim that they are the same species and that differences are a result of sexual dimorphism.
@Antrodemus@Mitery22 S. aegyptiacus dentaries are also squared off at the front. This is not an autapomorphy of S. mirabilis. (It's not clear in the figure as the dentary of S. aegyptiacus was modeled in this case.)
Itโs with heavy hearts we share the very sad news of the passing of the award-winning British composerย Ben Bartlett
We would be grateful for your help in sharing this news and celebrating Benโs extraordinary music and legacy โฅ๏ธ
@_themingau Reconstructing the limb bones with such large gaps is definitely wrong. Indeed quite clear when looking at modern animals including large birds. Somehow whenever I bring this up people try defending it but it just doesn't add up.
Big progress on the Oertijdmuseum Triceratops skull!
It's a little dusty and some pieces have yet to be attached, but it's standing upright. It might just be the best Triceratops skull in Europe.
@paleobyliam@Tessasaurus_rex Awesome!
Yeah I'll be in Wyoming for a few weeks for fieldwork. For now the plans are to do stuff just in Eastern Wyoming, but if I get near I'd drop by.
