On Tuesday, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker (R-MS) tore into Trump during a "pointed floor speech," according to reporting by Semafor congressional bureau chief Burgess Everett. In his speech, Wicker warned Trump to remember exactly who he is hosting this week.
According to Everett, Wicker said Trump "should keep in mind that his guest is a brutal, unelected and oppressive dictator who seeks to dominate his neighbors and whose massive military arsenal is aimed directly" at the United States.
According to a press release, the White House has planned a full ceremonial welcome, with a formal State Arrival Ceremony spanning the South Lawn, State Floor and Rose Garden, and 479 military personnel from every branch of the armed forces.

The Trump administration’s top wildlife official issued a directive last week that expands a recent rollback of endangered species protections much further than the feds had told the public.
Individuals and industries may kill endangered animals in the course of logging projects, developments and other activities, it said — so long as the activity’s purpose isn’t killing species.
The memo issued by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Brian Nesvik is the most drastic move yet in the Trump administration’s campaign to limit the scope of the Endangered Species Act.

President Donald Trump and White House aide Natalie Harp are facing a lawsuit over a $100,000-a-month Truth Social subscriber program that gives paying users early access to official government posts.

The lawsuit, filed Sept. 17 by watchdog groups American Oversight and Campaign for Accountability, alleges the scheme denies the public equal and timely access to government information and violates the First and Fifth Amendments and federal law.
These officials are also named in the lawsuit, along with several federal agencies and White House offices.
Harp, meanwhile, is named as a defendant because she is “reportedly the primary White House staffer responsible” for helping Trump post on his Truth Social account, according to the lawsuit.

Popular Information journalists analyzed the ads accusing the Democratic candidates of supporting "taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries on kids," and found numerous inaccuracies and distortions.

Earlier this month, The Daily Beast turned up court documents revealing that Karen Evans, the one-time acting director of FEMA under fired DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, had been caught "intentionally destroying" workplace correspondence, which she had previously been ordered to retain as evidence in a lawsuit dealing with President Donald Trump's efforts to gut the disaster response agency. This included deleting messages sent on the communications app, Signal, which members of the administration have been caught using for under-the-radar talks repeatedly. Some of the group chats in which messages were deleted included Noem and her top lieutenant, Corey Lewandowski.

On Tuesday, the outlet's investigative Substack, PunchUp, published a follow-up report on Evans, revealing that instead of being let go, she was moved to an eyebrow-raising new role within the administration.

A federal judge has thrown out former Trump White House lawyer Stefan Passantino's defamation lawsuit against MSNOW commentator Andrew Weissmann, ruling that the very transcript Passantino cited in his own defense actually backs up the claim he was suing over.
Because Passantino couldn't show Weissmann had any reason to doubt the truth of his statement, AliKhan ruled he failed to meet the legal standard required to prove defamation, granting judgment in Weissmann's favor and closing out a case that had dragged on for nearly two years.
