@PRBG_Aesthetics Bar Black Jack. No chance to water down the drinks, there's a few pinball machines, and if a fight ends in a corpse, nobody's surprised.
Halloween. First movie I remember watching. Pretty sure it might've been the edited-for-TV version, but it's goddamn Halloween: the shit that makes it creepy doesn't just disappear with a few snips here and there.
After that, Hellraiser. It's pretty much a haunted house story about lust, obsession, and pain. Book's a slightly different flavor, dealing more with Kirsty's unrequited love. Both are great, so it really depends on my mood.
This movie's fun as shit. Snipes and Harrelson are so good together that it's not hard to believe they grew up in the same household.
"Hey man, where's your Christmas spirit?"
"In your pocket!"
Still waiting for the right time to use that line on my brother. Then there's Robert Blake: bug-eyed and completely out of his goddamn gourd. Pretty much every scene with the guy had me laughing my ass off.
Nice. That moment of him clambering onto the car rarely makes it into artwork, so it's cool seeing it here.
I've always thought the mask looked creepy as shit in Halloween II: bloated and swollen, like something left to rot. Between that and Dick Warlock's shambling gait, Michael feels like a reanimated corpse in II.
@TheCinesthetic "...He still needed Kinski to finish the film."
Hahaha. Sounds a whole lot like, "Look, don't get me wrong—I'm sick of the sunuvabitch, but we haven't even checked the dailies yet. I'll get back to you then."
It's not the best of these by a long shot, but I've always had a soft spot for The Bone Collector.
Denzel's a great Lincoln Rhyme, Jolie's good too, and I've always had a soft spot for NYC-based winter mysteries. Born and raised here, so yeah: the vibe matches how I remember the late '90s. I know a lot of it was shot in Montreal, or wherever the hell, but it still feels right.
Haha, I actually showed my girlfriend this scene a while back. Never fails to make me laugh.
"And vwhat is it per-tayne-ing?
Per-tayne-ing, rrregarding?"
@OliverJia1014 Well, shit...
I should probably dust off that pile of half-assed song lyrics from my mid-twenties, because if this fuckin' guy could end up on TV...
Yep. And failing that, I'll awkwardly rearrange every red barrel within a 20-foot radius like the OCD obsessive I am, then exploit the faulty physics system until some weird technical quirk triggers a massive explosion that I'm hopefully clear of.
My favorite is probably 11/22/63. It’s a surprisingly effective love story with some real texture to the era.
Trying to map out all the implications of time travel in a book like that must have been a damn nightmare. Like skipping rocks across a pond and then trying to trace every single ripple.
Salem’s Lot is right up there too, though. One of the best vampire novels I've ever read, and a masterclass in building slow, creeping dread.
@BDisgusting@IGN Hell of an idea for a game. Undying's one of my favorite games, so it's great to have Barker involved in another one.
Looks freaky as shit, too. And it's nice to have Doug back. If eternal damnation had a nature documentary narrator, it'd be him.
Sure. Simple guy—doesn't take much to make him happy: just a pile of books that don't suck, the smell of old paperbacks, his girlfriend's smile, and some music to read them with.
The written word's like ambrosia, a balm, and tea leaves all at once. He's a bit of a dumbass sometimes, but his biggest vice is caffeine addiction and hoarding more books than he'll ever have time to read.
I say hi to him every time I see a mirror. Sometimes he grunts back.
Been a fan of this movie since my late-teens. And yeah, I was a fan of the comics version for a little longer than even that.
Keanu just works better in anti-hero roles. Always has. And his Constantine feels like my goddamn horoscope—cynical, tired, but still lighting a cigarette because at least it keeps away the shadows. Most times.
Lotta scenes I find myself rewatching: John's intro. His trip to hell. Lucifer's arrival. Soundtrack's great for writing, too.
@KinesthGamer@TheCinesthetic ...That switcheroo thing has a name? I ever tell you you're smart, little brother?
And yeah, Charlie Cox is exactly the Matt Murdock I've followed in the comics since we were teens.
Well, I was pretty... miffed when half the cast decided to toss Buffy Summers out of her own goddamn house—after she'd saved their asses enough times to earn a permanent box seat in the afterlife.
Pissed me off enough to hurl a stream of invectives at the screen, but not enough to make me stop watching.
I always loved that moment with Somerset right at the beginning, at the scene of that domestic murder.
Some things aren't going to change, no matter what he does—horrible people will do horrible things—but he still hopes the kid's gonna be okay, spared the same understanding of the world that weighs on him every day.
Guy's tired. Can't blame him.
That if I stuffed my face with enough food, I'd heal any injuries, no matter how extensive or borderline lethal, including (but not limited to) third-degree burns, exit wounds the size of volleyballs, missing limbs, disembowelment, pelvic distortion, multiple cracked ribs, getting hit by a car, falling out of an airplane, stopping an RPG with my face, and stubbed toes.
What's that? No, I don't know what a "calorie" is.
Especially when you realize Adam was screwed the moment the tub drained. Poor guy was literally elbow-deep in fecal matter, and for what? All that shit for a game over.
