@HoboJ_ I was concerned about the execution the first 2 years of the tank, but it turned out they orchestrated a wonderful rebuild. They were forced to pivot and trade Kessler when they were offered superstar value for him. Do you think they'll just stand pat from here?
@asuhbrandon@Tjonesonthenba They didn't know the Lakers would massively overpay in a trade 5 months later. It's a positive pivot the Jazz were forced to make. Not part of the plan. Jazz roster is worse at the moment but overall assets better and they clearly won the trade.
@BensHoops Walker will lose an extra ~2 million a year in income tax in California, and 1 less year on the deal. Maybe he wanted 4 years so he can go for 1 more big deal.
Huge overpay by the Lakers so the Jazz had to agree. Plenty of ammo now to go get another center.
@markschlereth It seems like the Raiders are finally on the right track. They should have stripped down to rebuild for the last 4 offseasons/regimes in a row and finally lucked into it.
Spytek was put in a bad situation last year where they had already decided to win with a 74 year old coach.
@NewAgeYungen@LauriBirddd@ESPNNBA@KendrickPerkins David Robinson suffered a non displaced fracture in his foot on Dec 24 1996. It was announced he was expected to miss 6 weeks. They kept him out the rest of the season to tank for Duncan.
They traded away all their veterans and the usual player resting for Wemby in 2023.
@RaidersBeat Kubiak and Webb were always the top 2 options. After today there are no open jobs that are better. Everything has gone as well as it can so far.
@3THWENT Draft a QB at #1 or #2.
Build the offensive line and defense with the substantial added capital at the beginning of the following rounds. Let him sit for 6-10 games. Draft your WR1 early the next year and be set for 10 years with your 2nd year QB and young stars.
@WatchMeWork365@3THWENT The #1 overall pick is worth roughly two #7 or three #16. There's a good chance Cincinnati would do it, not that I think the Raiders should.
@ShashiJairam Pete is 74. He can't win with a rookie so doesn't care if the pick is top 2.
It's conflict of interest created when they hired the oldest head coach ever. Was a conflict last year with AP's job security. They need a coach that plan for the long haul. It's on Mark to fix it.
@ESPN_BillC BYU wouldn't be the 9 or 10 seed if they win the Big12. Can't keep a 1 loss P4 champion behind any 2 loss 3rd place teams. There should be some real discussion about BYU over Oregon at the 4 if that were to happen but they'd probably wind up between 5 and 7.
@HondoCarpenter They're just tanking effectively, for now, as they should have the last 2 seasons before crippling the franchise with meaningless wins at the end. At least Pete realizes and can do SOMETHING right this year.
@ESPN_BillC It doesn't qualify as stealing if BYU wins. They'd make it based on merit without the autobid at that point. JMU or Tulane would be the steals.
@braves_dawgs@VandyTracker Yes. Texas Tech lost AT a full strength ASU who then lost QB Leavitt for the year. If not for that, ASU would be ranked. There is way more context needed.
In that vein, the committee seems to be overvaluing predictive models which also ignore injuries and wins and losses.
@cheesefries73 Predictive models have their place but they're far from perfect. They largely ignore wins and losses, and injuries. For example Utah would have got full credit for blowing out ASU at home without Leavitt.
It's mostly point differential which was Utah's strength.
