Did you know there used to be a swing bridge across Camber Dock in Old #Portsmouth? Hence the name of the Bridge Tavern pub. The first bridge was built in 1842 and the last was removed in 1924 as it was an obstruction to larger ships entering the dock. https://t.co/njAz40LaWK

A reminder that the Bridge Tavern nearly did not survive the closure of the Camber commercial docks at the end of the 1970’s. To the left note the last section of the wall around the Fraser-Whites coal depot which stretched almost back to Broad St
