@elize_roets It does indeed but unfortunately the hippo require far greater space than we give them. The extent to which their behavior is ‘natural’ is open to debate.

@elize_roets Although this behavior is natural, it is accentuated by humanity’s tendency to confine wildlife artificially to marginal areas.

@elize_roets Unfortunately the Sabi Sands has only two perennial water systems, the Sabie and the Sand river. The other perennial water bodies are artificial. There should not be a permanent hippo presence in the area and so they are over populated for the ecosystem.
