Official X of your Calif. Military Dept. and its Adjutant General: news and updates about contributions to the Golden State. (Following does not=endorsement)
The Governor’s Innovation Fellows recently visited the California Military Department Headquarters. They are members of a program managed by the Office of Data and Innovation. They met with leaders and staff and learned how the department serves Californians through emergency response, operations, and innovation.
The visit gave Fellows a firsthand look at how CMD carries out its mission and approaches challenges bringing new perspective to the work they are leading across state government.
The third cohort includes 15 Fellows from 7 agencies and 11 departments. Under ODI's leadership, the Fellows are tackling priority projects focused on improving government efficiency, service delivery, and the experience of Californians. @CAgovernor@CaliforniaODI

For months, members of Your Cal Guard’s 129th Rescue Wing supported combat search and rescue operations in the Middle East.
Now they’re back at Moffett Field, welcomed by family, friends and some long-overdue hugs❤️. @CAgovernor
Preparing now for a potentially historic El Niño. Disaster readiness is a whole-of-government responsibility in our Golden State. Today, @Cal_OES Director Caroline Thomas Jacobs met with Cal Guard leaders at our HQ. The focus: statewide readiness and potential Guard support for flood response, search and rescue, engineering and logistics. @CAgovernor

Twenty-five years ago, National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from across the country proved that “Always Ready, Always There” is more than a motto as they answered the call to respond to the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks. We will never forget.

Six years ago, over the Labor Day weekend, Cal Guard aircrews launched into one of the most challenging search-and-rescue missions in California wildfire history.
Hear the story of that night from the Cal Guard air crews who flew in.
A new documentary brings together the firsthand accounts of the aircrews, cell phone footage from those trapped at Mammoth Pool, and news coverage from the unfolding rescue.
See the mission. Hear the stories. Experience the night that 242 people will never forget.
Watch the documentary and discover what it took to bring them home. @CAgovernor@USNationalGuard@CAL_FIRE
Six years ago today, the Creek Fire ignited in Fresno and Madera counties, forcing hundreds of people to flee for their lives.
@TheCalGuard aircrews acted with extreme urgency, bravery, and skilled coordination, saving hundreds of Californians without hesitation.
Our aircrews saved 242 lives.
This mission defined the future of California's nighttime wildfire response, and we are forever grateful for this historic rescue.
For more than three decades, California and Ukraine have stood together.
Last night, Maj. Gen. Matthew Beevers joined California’s Ukrainian community at the State Capitol to mark Ukrainian Independence Day and reaffirm our enduring partnership and support for the people of Ukraine.

Meet Joint Task Force Rattlesnake | Your Cal Guard on the frontlines
Today, 5 Rattlesnake hand crews are supporting the #GannFire, with a 6th on the #FelizFire. Made up entirely of Cal Guard personnel, Joint Task Force Rattlesnake fields 14 full-time Type I hand crews — each led by a CAL FIRE Capt. Year-round, these crews perform demanding work for our Golden State: clearing vegetation, maintaining proficiencies, and constructing and strengthening fireline, wherever they’re needed.@CAgovernor@CAL_FIRE@CALFIRETCU@CALFIRE_MEU@Cal_OES@USNationalGuard@ChiefNGB
#GradeFire [Update 5:50pm] Fire continues to hold at 689 acres. The increase in containment to 65% is attributed to the hard work that firefighters are committed to completing. @ClevelandNF@TheCalGuard
Had a great visit with the @TheCalGuard to learn more about STARBASE and the important work happening at our local armory.
Programs like STARBASE inspire the next generation of students through hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math while connecting young people with opportunities to serve and lead.
Thank you to the California Military Department team for the work you do to support our communities and invest in the future.
Most people see a cargo plane. We see one of only eight in the nation equipped for this mission.
Developed by the U.S. Forest Service and flown by highly trained military aircrews, these aircraft can deliver up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant in less than five seconds. This week, firefighting C-130s are staged in Northern California to support wildfire operations, wherever and whenever needed. #MAFFS

When every minute matters, partnerships save lives.
On July 11, a hiker suffered serious injuries after a fall while descending Carson Peak in Mono County’s steep and rugged mountain terrain. Mono County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue teams immediately mobilized, navigating challenging conditions to reach and provide care to the injured hiker.
Following a request from CAL OES, a California Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk aircrew launched to support the rescue. Operating through the night in steep terrain and challenging mountain conditions, the crew provided specialized hoist capabilities to safely extract the hiker from a remote cliffside location.
Through teamwork, perseverance, and coordination among local, state, and military partners, the hiker was safely transported for medical care.
Cal Guard stands ready to provide critical capabilities whenever California calls. @CAgovernor@Cal_OES@MonoSheriff@USNationalGuard
Last week, @CA_EMSA led a 16-hour medical emergency drill to improve care and coordination in California among emergency response teams, hospitals, and military partners, including @Cal_OES + @TheCalGuard. Preparedness in action for when it matters most.
What happens when a disaster overwhelms local hospitals?
At Cal Guard’s Mather Flight Facility, a statewide exercise led by @CA_EMSA simulated a large-scale emergency that overwhelmed regional hospitals, requiring patients to be moved across the state for continued care.
The exercise tested patient movement, a temporary field hospital, and coordination between emergency medical, public health, hospital and military partners. @Cal_HHS@Cal_OES@CA_EMSA@CAgovernor@USNationalGuard
California’s @TheCalGuard Counter Drug Task Force proudly supported the discovery of this illegal San Diego-Tijuana tunnel and helped seize 1,000kg of cocaine valued at $45+ million.
Our state operations are saving countless lives and protecting our communities.
