Sad that history text books (mine and now my son’s) have a para or two about the Cholas. Gross underestimation of a dynasty that gave so much in arts, trade, military and navy.
There are no shortcuts to wealth!
But with the way direct and indirect taxes are levied in the Indian tax system, even the long route feels like a mountain that keeps getting steeper and harder to climb.
Finances
- Pay 30% tax on salary
- Add 4% health and education cess
- Pay additional surcharge of 10-37% (if crosses certain limit)
- Pay GST on everything — from a bucket of popcorn to buying a car, a house, or even health insurance.
Savings
if we somehow manage to save,
- Pay 30% tax on savings and fd interest
- Pay 20% on short term
- Pay 12.5% on long-term
Direct taxes along with high indirect taxes, feel like a chronic illness and whether we earn, spend or save, taxes follow you at every step!

Dear @IndianRailMedia@indianrailway__@IRCTCofficial
Am sure there’s much more to IR than just new trains.
CLEAN UP the existing ones!
Train your staff!
And get good, palatable food.
