We're just grateful readers "get" what we're doing with the story and, like the kids in the book, have embraced the challenging elements we've thrown into the mix.
There certainly was a lightning in a bottle feel to the first Cardboard Kingdom book, and the whole creative time knew that subsequent books couldn't and shouldn't attempt to do with book one did over again.
