@firesidemets Bo’s a really good contact hitter, hitting IN FRONT of Soto & Rob Jr. is a reclamation project that provides elite defense. Neither is “protection”. I would argue the 50+ HR guy gave closer to true protection. The Met team’s good but dumb take. Judge was his only real protection.

Soto is towards the top of tier 2’s along with names like Bobby Witt, JRam, Vlad Jr., Acuña, Skenes, Skubal etc., but he isn’t close to the same league as the other 2. I would make a separate tier 3 of stars too.

However Judge is better offensively & while he doesn’t pitch, he plays the field well. Playing more gives you the opportunity to impact more games
