Even after becoming ill and laying paralysed in a hospital bed I was denied an exemption and told to get a 2nd jab. They continue to hide and deny the damage done by these “vaccines”.

"We all experience grief. The outside world just doesn’t always see it."

After listening to Grace Rouvray speak on the No Filter podcast about the devastating loss of her friend Katie Lees, we were reminded of something many in our community know deeply. Grief does not only follow death.

For people living with COVID vaccine injury, grief can look like losing the life you once recognised. Health, independence, careers, relationships, financial stability, confidence, plans for the future. Pieces of yourself you never imagined would disappear.

And families grieve too. Parents, partners, children, siblings and friends often carry their own quiet heartbreak as they watch someone they love struggle. Their grief is just as real, even if it is rarely spoken about.

What makes this kind of grief especially hard is that it sits inside a conversation many people would rather avoid.

But acknowledging grief is not political.

Recognising suffering is not political.

Listening is not political.

Behind every COVID vaccine injury statistic, claim number, report or headline is a human grieving. And behind them is a circle of people learning how to carry that change too.

Front page coverage in The Mercury Newspaper today tells the story of a family who did everything they were asked to do and were still failed by the system that was supposed to support them.

Kenneth Lawrence’s autopsy concluded he died as a probable consequence of COVID-19 vaccination. Yet his family’s compensation claim was denied because his condition did not fit within the scheme’s narrow list of “claimable conditions”.

His daughters described the process as “the most impersonal, insensitive, soul crushing and convoluted process we have ever had the misfortune to be involved in.”

Fewer than 1 in 10 claims to the scheme have been approved, and hundreds of Australians are still waiting for outcomes years later.

A compensation scheme that cannot respond appropriately even when clear medical evidence exists is not fit for purpose.

The Government must urgently review the COVID-19 Vaccine Claims Scheme, including eligibility criteria, rejection rates, bureaucratic fairness, and whether Australians were given the support they were promised.

Ken Lawrence mattered. Every Australian harmed matters.

One of the most important statements on scientific inquiry and public health to emerge in 2026 has come from Akiko Iwasaki at Yale University.

Professor Iwasaki has been at the forefront of research into Long COVID, microclots, and post-vaccine syndromes, while also speaking openly about the barriers researchers can face when investigating complex or controversial health conditions.

In a recent piece for Nature Reviews Immunology, she argues that science advances by confronting difficult questions, not avoiding them.

As she writes:

“The field has repeatedly been shaped by ideas that at first seemed divisive but later became foundational. The future of immunology depends on our collective effort to safeguard the freedom of inquiry with the same passion we have for scientific integrity.”

Professor Iwasaki later shared that she wrote the piece “to promote thoughtful, respectful, and rational engagement with controversial science topics” and hoped it would encourage constructive dialogue within the scientific community.

Open scientific discourse is not a threat to public health. In fact, public trust depends on it. People are more likely to trust institutions that are willing to ask difficult questions, investigate harms transparently, and engage respectfully with uncertainty when it exists.

@AlboMP Your ministers are actively supporting the ATO as they pursue Covid19 vaccine injured Australians for a slice of their compensation settlements received under the Covid19 Vaccine Claim Scheme. In at least one case pushing for the injured person to sell their home to pay.
