Honestly, I'm just glad at least one news network let a trans person talk about the attacks against the transgender community.
So many people are talking about us while a major presidential candidate has made us target #1 and yet so few allow us to speak.
The "trans athlete debate" is not really about sports or fairness, but about getting a legal precedent deeming trans women to be men under the law that can be extended to other areas of our lives.
In which Jonathan Chait admonishes Harris for not dropping trans people, and pretends that this is the first time anti-trans ads have been used.
Republicans have been using them for 3 years and have failed every time in elections.
It's not a topic that registers with voters.
Among the earliest places where Labour in the UK pulled back was sports and prisons. Then they turned to hospital wards. Now they're no different than Ron DeSantis on schools and gender affirming care.
I'll be watching Harris Fox interview tonight.
This is wild. In so many ways it feels like this dialogue was so much kinder and gentler than it is today over transgender people. Even the loaded questions weren't confrontational and mean.
As someone who reports on anti-trans ads and attacks every day, this is not nearly the same ad that Allred ran.
Beshear accurately pointed out that "sex change surgeries for kids" is not a thing.
They are extremely rare and don't happen in the vast majority of states, incl KY.
We never got an answer why the Tennessee three were bumped off the DNC stage. Given the extremely long musical breaks and a few questionable guests, what was the justification for removing some of the most eloquent to speak in defense of democracy?
The greatest danger to no trans person speaking at the DNC and the word "transgender" only being said twice in 4 nights is that Dems (wrongly) are scared of the politics of supporting trans people.
Which easily becomes, Dems see us as worth negotiating away.
Let me explain why:
This is absolutely obscene. We have seen UK LGBT groups, news orgs, and more absolutely abandon transgender people. Throw them to the dirt.
Trans people are "too contentious" to report our stories, apparently.
This is why we need strong, independent, trans journalism.
I'm afraid that this is what happens when laypeople talk about medicine, because "first, do no harm" is not actually a "key principle of medicine." This is an assertion that Sonia Sodha makes up from whole cloth. (1/18)
When you see anti-trans politicians and influencers like Donald Trump, JD Vance, Andrew Bailey, JK Rowling and Elon Musk and Riley Gaines engage in such gross disinformation about a cisgender boxer...
Now realize how bad their disinformation on actual trans people is.
Number of posts @jk_rowling has amplified or sent about an Algerian boxer since the Olympics began: 17.
Number of posts she has amplified or sent celebrating Olympic champion women in the same timeframe: 0.
Odd way of showing your support.
Michael Phelps is literally referred to as a freak of nature because of his disproportionate wingspan, double jointed ankles, lung capacity twice that of an average human, body that produces half the lactic acid of a typical athlete, and he is rightly celebrated for being the greatest male swimmer in history. Meanwhile, female athletes with genetic differences are legally discriminated against and harassed to no end. This is not about “protecting women in sports” - this is about protecting a very specific idea of what a woman is.

@CharOnTwitch@Bungie This was my opinion before events in Season of the Lost, need to see how it develops but I stand by it for now. Since Uldren and Crow are different people, Crow doesn't fulfill the requirements of the Dare for Hunter Vanguard. He can still be it, just not because of the Dare
