At last night's box opening, the Deacon presented the Glasgow Caledonian University Fashion Business awards: first prize went to Sophie Rear while Lauren Miller won Highly Commended.
The Cordiner's Box, incidentally, was made for us a few years ago by the remarkable people at @GalGael Galgael Trust to replace the previous Box which dated from the time of Queen Anne and had disappeared at some point over the years. The wood was sourced from Holyrood Park.
It is a tradition that the Deacon place in the Incorporation's Box some souvenirs of major or personal events from his/her year in Office. Deacon McClements chose to honour the inspirational Rob Burrows CBE by including a newspaper with an obituary of the great man.
Our Body and Soul initiative, providing essential footwear for children to increase their participation in sports and outdoor activities was celebrated last night in fascinating presentations by Kirsten Noon and Chiara Piacentini of @PepassGlasgow and @gostconstantine
Last night's Box-Opening Supper of the Incorporation of Cordiners, was delighted to welcome Jack Geddes, fund-raising manager of the much-loved Glasgow City Mission @GCMCare which is rapidly approaching its 200th birthday and is one of the City's greatest institutions.
Deacon David McClements represented the Incorporation at the glorious annual festival of Die Zunft zu Schuhmachern, our loyal and generous opposite-numbers in Switzerland.
The Annual Box Opening Supper of the Incorporation of Cordiners will take place on Tuesday June 11th 2024 at the Trades Hall, Glasgow. Ticket forms can be downloaded from https://t.co/RPBVtmNz99
It will be a great night!
On Friday 2nd February, Deacon David McClements held his Choosing Dinner in the Trades Hall. The speakers included Right Rev. Sally Foster-Fulton, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland and Adrian Ward MBE, a great advocate of Disability Legislation.
The Deacon’s Choosing Dinner is fast approaching!
It will be held in The Trades Hall of Glasgow, 85 Glassford Street, Glasgow, on Friday, 2nd February 2024, at 6.00pm for 6.30pm. Tickets priced £70 are available now from the Clerk, Tom Monteith. [email protected]
