Astounds me people have difficulty in differentiating between professional and personal criticism; so automatically misconstrue it for hatred. “Oh but the individual was top performer on the last tour here” ….that was 6 years ago. Every player has a shelf life, some are nearing the of theirs.

With 75 of the 108 men’s Tests since 2024 finishing inside four days, teams such as Pakistan, WI, Bangladesh, SL, South Africa, NZ, Zimbabwe should seriously consider four-day Tests when facing one another. It would also make three-match series easier to accommodate.

A captain is often credited with the win; and in this case his own knock was instrumental in setting up the win. Though for me Babar still needs work on this aspect of his game—not something one should be saying, especially after having led your side 150 times. Tactically, he remains reactive and at times overly defensive. England will exploit these weaknesses in two weeks. Has time to reflect and remedy.

Totally feel for Abbas, had he been playing for any other country, he would have had 90 tests under his belt —with an excess of 300 wickets. Perhaps in a 100 years someone will conduct a case study of the “regressive mindset” which destroyed Pakistan cricket in the 21st century.
