Making a mouse model that works by inducing DSB's and then calling it an epigenetic intervention... Anyone? "I had a number of questions/concerns about this manuscript and its co-submitted counterpart…" — mismatch_repair https://t.co/XNuoZJ1McG
Amidst all the anger, and without wanting to take away from any condemnation of police brutality, I would like to thank @EdinburghPolice (as a brown person). I have only experienced great empathy from your officers in the past.
How about starting with a national treasure like #Churchill. Churchill was documented openly racist and harboured a deep hatred for Indians. He also diverted crops during the Bengali famine from India to Britain, leading to the deaths of millions. Yet, is there any commemoration?
Looking at my own society at home - British - we, like many countries have to realise that looking at our history unvarnished is necessary. Too often people only see/ are taught positives- eg the abolition of slavery but not the support of slavery nor indentured servitude
...and I quote an FRS here: "I am totally opposed to judging people's actions by today's moral standards." When I asked whether historic atrocities like fascism and colonialism could be excused that way, I was removed from the manuscript.
