John Grisham on death row prisoner: ‘Texas is about to execute innocent man’
‘There was no crime,’ says author about Robert Roberson who was convicted of murder based on discredited science https://t.co/gHyU8N1gWL
#MarcellusWilliams is scheduled to be executed by the state of Missouri in 9 hours for a crime he didn't commit. Robert Robert Roberson faces a similar fate in Texas on Oct. 17th without intervention. https://t.co/o8Cj9hkYDR
Greg Abbott says he's pro-life. There's nothing pro-life about sending a man to his death if there's doubt about his culpability. I'm a Texas taxpayer. These are my dollars that will be used to end this man's life in about 10 minutes. He could have paused this. Just nauseating.
This case epitomizes the incompetence in our legal system. A key witness lied under oath & the star witness has essentially been discredited.
But the Texas appeals court dismissed his case on *procedural grounds*—without reviewing the merits—bc we value legalism over human life.
Texas executed an innocent man in Ivan Cantu.
A man whose trial featured a star state witness who admitted he committed perjury before a jury whose foreman has been trying to stop the execution.
But Greg Abbott let it happen anyway.
Last fall, the Sonoma County DA used federal grant money to create a PSA campaign about fentanyl, including the story of a mom who lost a daughter to an overdose at a playground. The problem? That story was completely fabricated. For @norcalpublic

The PR firm who designed a fentanyl PSA admitted the story of a 6-year old overdosing at a playground was “fabricated.”
No shame.
“We were trying to be creative,.. We're trying to elicit emotion. I think the campaign did a very good job of accomplishing that.’”
Oh boy. Today, police announced that they did not give a breathalyzer exam to the St. Louis police officer who crashed into my clients bar bc other officers determined he was not impaired. Well here video of him running a red light seconds before he crashed into Bar:PM 1
Ricky Dale Harrington vs. Tom Cotton for senate in Arkansas. Cotton is currently polling under 50% Ducking the debate was a bad move, because Harrington looked like a star.

So as it turns out, the practice of letting sheriffs keep for themselves any excess funds designated for feeding jail inmates . . . has led to some problems.
