I don't think they fairly found out what he was capable of being because of how that final season went down.

They were in a tough spot because his career was a rollercoaster there, and the final season messed everything up.

They should have shut him down that season, instead they used it as an excuse to move on.

I'd have tried to keep him on a tag or shorter compromise deal.
