The Senate agreed to a 2 week stop-gap funding bill, but unless there is MAJOR reform during that 2 weeks, ICE should be abolished.

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem acted unlawfully when she ended legal protections allowing hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans and Haitians to live and work in the United States.  The judges ruled that the TPS legislation passed by Congress did not give Noem the power to vacate an existing TPS designation.

Noem’s termination meant that 268,156 Venezuelan nationals currently in the U.S. lost their status and were no longer legally allowed to reside in the United States, along with 350,000 Venezuelans who were stripped of protected status in April.  Ninth Circuit Judge Salvador Mendoza, Jr. wrote "It is clear that the Secretary’s vacatur actions were not actually grounded in substantive policy considerations or genuine differences with respect to the prior administration’s TPS procedures, but were instead rooted in a stereotype-based diagnosis of immigrants from Venezuela and Haiti as dangerous criminals or mentally unwell”.

U.S. District Judge John Tunheim has temporarily barred the Trump administration from detaining refugees in Minnesota who do not yet have green cards, following a plan by the Trump administration to reexamine thousands of refugees' cases.  Tunheim's order focuses on the Department of Homeland Security's plan — known as Operation PARRIS — to review the immigration cases of roughly 5,600 people who currently live in Minnesota legally with refugee status, but aren't yet lawful permanent residents in the U.S.  DHS "implemented a practice of arresting and detaining — without notice or warrant — individuals previously screened and admitted into the United States as refugees."

Judge John Tunheim wrote “Refugees have a legal right to be in the United States, a right to work, a right to live peacefully—and importantly, a right not to be subjected to the terror of being arrested and detained without warrants or cause in their homes or on their way to religious services or to buy groceries.  At its best, America serves as a haven of individual liberties in a world too often full of tyranny and cruelty.  We abandon that ideal when we subject our neighbors to fear and chaos."

MAGA Arizona State Representative Khyl Powell (R) has introduced a concurrent memorial (HCM 2010) which urges the U.S. Congress to repeal the 17th Amendment and return U.S. Senator selection to state legislatures instead of allowing citizens to vote for them in direct elections.

In yet another GOP miscarriage of justice, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin overturned the conviction of a former deputy who was sentenced to serve three years in prison for fatally shooting an unarmed Black man accused of shoplifting from a mall.  Ex-deputy Wesley Gonzalez Shifflet received a full pardon on Jan. 15 from Youngkin, just two days before the outgoing governor’s term was set to end.

Shifflet spent two nights in custody before Youngkin vacated his sentence.  Body camera footage showed Shifflett yell, “Get on the ground!” as he was chasing Johnson, then immediately open fire two seconds later.

The White House called Alex Pretti an "assassin" and Renee Good a "domestic terrorist."  None of that is true.

We wake up virtually every day to new Trump and ICE terror and murders.  Even Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal berated Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller for trying to paint a Veterans Affairs nurse killed by ICE agents as a “domestic terrorist.”

Just like with the ICE murder of 37-year-old Minneapolis mother Renee Nicole Good, Noem and Miller immediately branded Pretti a “would-be assassin” and claimed he was trying to attack ICE agents, despite clear video evidence to the contrary.

Pretti’s colleagues hold a moment of silence in his memory below.

Below is a real letter from Trump to the Prime Minister of Norway.  The Nobel prize is not awarded by the country of Norway, but rather by an independent committee – the Norwegian Nobel Committee.  And Greenland is not part of Norway.

It’s obvious Trump is a serious threat to world stability and peace.  Trump demands Greenland because he has not won a Nobel prize. 

It’s obvious he is insane.  It will take the U.S. decades to recover from the damage he is causing.  The U.S. is no longer a reliable ally, no longer a pillar of democracy.

The deadline for DOJ to release the Epstein Files was December 19.  A month later, nothing more than 1% of the files has been released.  Will we see anything more before the midterm elections?

Trump is trying every distraction to slow the release of the Epstein Files.  He would rather threaten to start WW3 than see the files released  As Thomas Massie said, “They’re still trying to protect billionaires, politically connected people, and trying to obscure the involvement of our own intelligence agencies.”
