The strength of any public institution is measured not only by the projects it delivers, but also by the values that guide those projects.
I recently joined colleagues at the REA Anti-Corruption and Anti-Bribery Training Programme, an important reminder that integrity, accountability, and transparency must remain at the heart of everything we do.
As the REA continues to expand energy access across Nigeria, we also have a responsibility to strengthen the systems that sustain public confidence. Delivering impact is important, but delivering it with integrity is what builds lasting trust.
The discussions challenged us to think beyond policies and compliance. They reinforced the idea that ethical leadership is reflected in the decisions we make every day, the standards we uphold, and the example we set for those around us.
I was encouraged by the openness and engagement of everyone who participated. Building a culture of accountability is not the responsibility of one department or one individual, it is a collective commitment that strengthens the entire institution.
My appreciation goes to the facilitators and organizers for an insightful session. As we continue to power communities across Nigeria, we remain equally committed to building an Agency that is transparent, accountable, and worthy of the trust placed in it by Nigerians.

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is seeing how reliable electricity can completely transform learning environments and create new opportunities for young Nigerians.
During my visit to Yola, I joined His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, on a tour of the 5MW hybrid mini-grid deployed by the Rural Electrification Agency under the Energizing Education Programme at the Federal University of Technology Yola.
The Governor had the opportunity to see firsthand the scale of infrastructure delivered under the project, visit the training centre, and engage with female STEM students being trained through the programme.
Moments like this reinforce the broader purpose behind electrification. Beyond powering campuses, projects like these support research, innovation, digital learning, skills development, and the next generation of problem solvers who will shape Nigeria’s future.
I appreciate His Excellency’s commendation of REA’s work and his assurance of the Adamawa State Government’s continued partnership in advancing electricity access across the state.
The work continues.

A productive conversation with the European Investment Bank as we continue to explore new pathways for financing renewable energy at scale.
Our discussions focused on potential collaboration under the Distributed Access through Renewable Energy Scale-up (DARES) Program, with the Bank expressing strong interest in supporting deployment efforts and deepening financing structures around the program.
They indicated an interest to put up to 200 million euros towards mission 300 energy access initiative, and a willingness to provide up to 50% co-financing backed by the European Union, this presents a significant opportunity to further unlock capital for renewable energy projects across Nigeria.
What is encouraging is the shared recognition that institutions like REA play a central role in driving this transition, through delivery, coordination, and the ability to bring together public and private sector actors.
We look forward to building on this engagement and expanding the collaboration in ways that continue to accelerate energy access and strengthen the renewable energy ecosystem.

The round-table affirmed Kaduna’s leading position on creating an investor-friendly electricity market, a burgeoning opportunity for Nigeria’s sub-nationals. The MOU signed between the KDSG @ubasanius and the REA @abbaaliyu_ is intended to deepen this position.
@TheDavidOtu, the exceptional MC of the day, reflected on the effects of Kaduna going from code Red to Amber, as reflected by the UK government’s travel advisory.
Kaduna’s leading position on Nigeria’s energy transition strategy was turbo-charged for even better outcomes yesterday.
We had engaging deliberations about strengthening and ensuring energy access across Nigeria and Africa. I was glad to receive the DSG’s promise to support REA’s mandate of making this a reality to drive the continent forward.
The theme of the meeting was “Facilitating Intra-African Trade: Catalyst for Sustainable Economic Growth in Africa,” and it goes with mentioning that realising a better, green economy demands a holistic approach, requiring collaboration.
At the African Caucus held in Abuja today, I was pleased to meet with the @UN Deputy Secretary-General @AminaJMohammed and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All @DamilolaSDG7
A hearty congratulations on your re-appointment as CEO of @SEforALLorg
