@MartinSLewis@TorstenBell The gap between the old pension system and the new one is getting huge. How can they justify such a big gap now?. Just something to even out the discrepancy so they don’t need to think twice about putting the heating on if they happened to be born in March rather than April.
Five years ago today I took the best photo I’ll probably ever take. I like good photos and have a four hour bus journey shortly so need entertaining. Feel free to reply with the best photo you ever took. Accompanying description also welcome.
@NighteshadeUk@stellaparkes@MartinSLewis My mum doesn’t get a top up. She just gets less than someone born 6mths later. Working hard all of her life seems to not matter.
@MartinSLewis And yet again the pensioners on the old system find the gap getting bigger and bigger between what they get and what the ‘new’ system based on % gets. Let’s take their winter fuel fund AND make that gap a little bigger this year… How is this ok?!?!
#OnThisDay 1994: Three Salons at the Seaside was first aired on BBC Two, showcasing life in Blackpool hairdressers.

If you are/know a disabled or neurodivergent child or adult in the UK who'd benefit from a weighted blanket, noise reduction earplugs, noise canceling headphones, fidget or oral chew pack & can't easily afford the item, this is for you: https://t.co/k87arCy5Qv Closes 19/07
I'm gonna explain to y'all why Britain considers 78°F/25°C hot. I know hot because I grew up in Texas and spent half my life in Las Vegas. So I am absolutely qualified to explain this to the rest of you who laugh at UK "heat waves".
In 2018, I shared some PowerPoint files I had made summarizing various research papers I wanted to share with teachers. The DropBox now includes those from 2019, and I will add those from later years in the coming weeks: https://t.co/kIKghom89o.
@primaryteachew I didn’t get what I thought would happen. I’m now a single mama of one, not married and no tribe of kids trailing behind but I’m happy with what I got. Life brings you good things even if they are different to what you thought they might be.
One day to go until the #LTHEchat hosted by #AdvanceHE and #peerlearning colleagues where we will be discussing #peerlearning in #highered. Join us to share your thoughts and learn more about new research. @DaveLochtie Read the blog post here https://t.co/YdPRxfQchm
I don't ever talk on here about my private life, BUT I've been noticing recently how many barriers can exist for single parents in leadership. Some examples, late board meetings, OFSTED feedback going on till 6 pm... when childcare is only available until 5.30pm. Any one else?
Gordon Brown, "We've got the highest levels of poverty in living memory amongst children"
"Children ill clad and hungry.. Families having to chose between heating, eating and keeping clean.. Mothers ashamed because they're having to queue up at food banks to get food for their children to make ends meet"
"These are the things that are happening and they should not be happening"
"I am shocked and ashamed at the amount of poverty I'm seeing now"
"You cannot ignore the future of millions of children in our country without terrible consequences for the future"
Austerity’s children – those born after 2010 – now account for 3.4m of Britain’s 4.3m children in poverty, with an extra 100k children pushed into poverty every year.
The damage to them runs deep and will have devastating consequences.

"We chose Zandra because quite frankly she's iconic."
That's TV spoke to Ellen Brown from the University of the Creative Arts, in Surrey, about their outreach programme in collaboration with @Zandra_Rhodes.
@MsWarnersWorld Likely to be whatever I can get delivered but also anything I don't usually get to eat because others don't like it. I would probably make myself a hot lamb curry if I wanted to cook, with a fresh tomato & onion salad.
