🇧🇩⚓🇵🇰 Strengthening Maritime Power Through Regional Cooperation

Pakistan's High Commissioner to Bangladesh has met with Bangladesh's Shipping Advisor. He sought Bangladesh's support and cooperation to develop Pakistan's maritime sector. The two sides agreed to cooperate to further strengthen maritime links.

Bangladesh today stands as a maritime leader in South Asia, with the largest number of ships and the most extensive inland waterway transport network in the region. This success reflects decades of strategic investment in maritime education, shipbuilding, ports, and inland waterways.

Bangladesh has also expanded its human capital by establishing multiple public marine academies, supported by private institutions, producing a strong pipeline of skilled seafarers serving global shipping.

For Pakistan, there is significant opportunity to benefit from Bangladesh’s experience:

⚓ Maritime Education & Training
Bangladesh’s multi-academy model can guide Pakistan in expanding cadet training capacity beyond a single academy through joint programs, instructor exchanges, and shared STCW-aligned curricula.

Bangladesh’s strong global seafarer placement networks offer lessons in building international partnerships and employment pathways.

🌊 Inland Waterway & Shipbuilding Expertise
Bangladesh’s world-class inland waterway system and growing shipbuilding industry with hundreds of shipyards to provide practical insights for shipbuilding, and logistics development.

🤝 Defence & Strategic Cooperation
Enhanced maritime cooperation strengthens not only economic outcomes but also maritime security, disaster response, and regional stability.

A stronger maritime Pakistan, supported through collaboration with Bangladesh, contributes to a safer and more prosperous South Asia.

ঢাকা, ২৪ ডিসেম্বর ২০২৫: বড়দিন উপলক্ষে খ্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময় করেছেন প্রধান উপদেষ্টা প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূস।

আজ রাষ্ট্রীয় অতিথি ভবন যমুনায় খ্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতিনিধিদের সঙ্গে শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময় করেন তিনি।

ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা ড. আ ফ ম খালিদ হোসেন, বাংলাদেশের ক্যাথলিক খ্রিস্টানদের প্রধান ধর্মগুরু আর্চবিশপ বিজয় এন ডি’ক্রুজ, ন্যাশনাল ক্রিশ্চিয়ান ফেলোশিপ অব বাংলাদেশের সভাপতি বিশপ ফিলিপ পি অধিকারী, খ্রিস্টান ধর্মীয় কল্যাণ ট্রাস্টের ট্রাস্টি ড. বেনেডিক্ট আলো ডি রোজারিও, জাতীয় চার্চ পরিষদ বাংলাদেশ-এর সভাপতি খ্রিস্টোফার অধিকারীসহ দেশের খ্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের নেতৃস্থানীয় ব্যক্তিবর্গ অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।

এ সময় খ্রিস্টান ধর্মের নেতারা তাঁদের শুভেচ্ছা বক্তব্যে বিশ্বজুড়ে প্রফেসর মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের সুনাম এবং দেশের অর্থনীতি ও সার্বিক পরিস্থিতির উন্নয়নে তাঁর ভূমিকার কথা উল্লেখ করেন। প্রধান উপদেষ্টার নেতৃত্বে আগামী নির্বাচনও সুষ্ঠু ও সুন্দরভাবে আয়োজিত হবে বলে তাঁরা আশা প্রকাশ করেন।

আর্চবিশপ বিজয় এন ডি’ক্রুজ তাঁর শুভেচ্ছা বক্তব্যে যিশু খ্রিস্টকে সার্বজনীন উল্লেখ করে বলেন, যিশু খ্রিস্টের ক্ষমা ও মানবসেবার মহান আদর্শকে সামনে রেখে বিশ্বজুড়ে কোটি কোটি মানুষের সঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের মানুষও এ বছর উৎসাহ-উদ্দীপনার সঙ্গে বড়দিন উদযাপন করছে।

প্রধান উপদেষ্টাকে বড়দিনের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে আর্চবিশপ বিজয় এন ডি’ক্রুজ বলেন, ‘জুলাই গণঅভ্যুত্থানের পরে বাংলাদেশকে নতুন করে গড়ে তুলতে জনগণ আপনার ওপর আস্থা রেখেছিল। আপনি অত্যন্ত নিষ্ঠার সঙ্গে সে দায়িত্ব পালন করে চলেছেন। আমরা প্রার্থনা করি, একটি সুন্দর ও শান্তিপূর্ণ নির্বাচনের মধ্য দিয়ে আপনার প্রচেষ্টা সফল হবে।’

প্রধান উপদেষ্টা উপস্থিত নেতৃবৃন্দসহ সবাইকে বড়দিন ও আসন্ন নববর্ষের শুভেচ্ছা জানিয়ে বলেন, ‘আপনারাই সমাজের প্রতিবিম্ব। আপনাদের দেখলে বুঝতে পারি, সবকিছু ঠিক আছে কি না।’

প্রধান উপদেষ্টা বলেন, আমরা একটি সুস্থ সমাজ গড়ে তুলতে চাই। সে জন্যই গণঅভ্যুত্থানের চেতনাকে সমুন্নত রাখতে জুলাই সনদ প্রস্তুত করা হয়েছে। এই সনদের ওপর গণভোটের মাধ্যমে দেশ আরেক ধাপ এগিয়ে যাবে।

তিনি বলেন, এবারের নির্বাচনে সংসদ নির্বাচনের সঙ্গে গণভোটও অনুষ্ঠিত হবে। গণভোটে জনগণ যে রায় দেবে, পরবর্তীতে সংসদ সেভাবেই সংস্কার কার্যক্রম গ্রহণ করবে।

প্রধান উপদেষ্টা এ সময় আসন্ন নির্বাচন ও গণভোটের বিষয়ে জনগণকে সচেতন করে তুলতে ধর্মীয় নেতৃবৃন্দকে ভূমিকা রাখার আহ্বান জানান।

বড়দিন উপলক্ষে খ্রিস্টান ধর্মীয় কল্যাণ ট্রাস্টকে আড়াই কোটি টাকা অনুদান দেওয়ার জন্য অনুষ্ঠানে অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারকে বিশেষভাবে ধন্যবাদ জানান ট্রাস্টের নেতৃবৃন্দ। দেশব্যাপী ৮০০টি চার্চের মধ্যে তিন ধাপে এ অনুদান বিতরণ করা হচ্ছে বলে জানান তাঁরা।

Education adviser visits Dipu Chandra Das’s family

Mymensingh, December 23, 2025: The Office of the Chief Adviser expresses its profound sorrow over the recent killing of factory worker Dipu Chandra Das in Mymensingh and extends its deepest condolences to his family.

On behalf of the government, Education Adviser Professor C R Abrar visited the family in Mymensingh on Tuesday to convey the government’s sympathy and assurance of support during this difficult time.

The Interim Government reiterates that this killing was a heinous criminal act with no justification and no place in Bangladeshi society. Allegations, rumours, or differences of belief can never excuse violence, and no individual has the right to take the law into their own hands.

The government reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the rule of law. The authority to investigate alleged offences and to ensure justice through due process rests solely with the state.

Law enforcement authorities have arrested 12 individuals in connection with the crime. Investigations are ongoing, and the Interim Government has directed that the case be pursued fully and without exception. Such acts of violence will be met with the full force of the law.

The government remains fully committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and equal protection of all citizens, regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background. It calls upon all communities, institutions, and leaders to reject violence, resist attempts to create division or unrest, and uphold restraint, humanity, and respect for the law.

The Office of the Chief Adviser confirms that financial and welfare assistance will be provided to the family of Dipu Chandra Das, and that the relevant authorities will remain in close contact with them in the coming period.

The Interim Government reiterates its resolve to protect all citizens and to ensure that justice is served.
