I think Grandpa shouldn’t have tried to protect Uncle. After taking over the village Jia Genzhu and Ding Yuejin authorized all trees in the village to be cut down for wood and any wood in the school to be given to the villagers to make coffins.

Matthew: For my project I wrote 2 dreams based on the dreams in the book Dream of Ding Village. After writing my dreams I chose background music based on Chinese music. I used the music to help invoke the idea of dreaminess #gwtdingvillage

I thought what Father asked was very interesting, because their are many sides to every story, including his, and while he has a lot of blame for what happened to Ding Village especially, the local government and local bloodlords like Father were doing what they were supposed to—

Izaak: At some moments I will use the fan to interact with parts of my body through sharp movements as a way to represent both blood trade from retracting blood, and blood infection that leads to aids as it starts to affect the natural blood flow and body in general.

Robin: My intentions for this project were to draw two symbols that represent Ding Village and the blood trading economy in China. Blood donation should be something that can be safe and sterile. A person should not have to worry about the needle being used #gwtdingvillage

Mason + Ashton: A story of oppression, black coffins that the villagers buried dead, symbol of human greed. Red painted blood drops inside the coffin represent that the local government tried to bury social issues and disasters from embarrassment #gwtdingvillage
