Some brilliant advice for parents here 💭
Key points IMO
- Let the coaches coach
- Explore different sports/activities
- Failure is a good thing
- Vary how you support your child
How do you help your child become a champion?
Chill out!
Here are 9 lessons that I wish every parent knew when it came to supporting their child’s athletic and academic pursuits:
In order for an academy player to thrive, it’s important for all aspects of their environment to be balanced.
Leave the football element to the coaches and focus on monitoring other area’s such as school performance, mental wellbeing, nutrition etc.
Our role is off the pitch.
One of the greatest gifts you can give to the children you coach is to just let them play.
Play for a warm up
Play chasing games
Play fun games
Play decision making games
Play 2v2/3v3/4v4 games
Play scoring games
Play skills games
Play problem solving games
They'll flourish.
Never be afraid to keep it simple when coaching children.
Nobody is reinventing the coaching wheel.
The basics never change.
Their needs haven't changed either.
To play & have fun.
To be with friends.
To be positively challenged.
Relax & enjoy it.
The years pass quickly.
You don’t need to have written a book, or published a paper, have a doctorate, won awards or have tens of thousands of followers to make a difference in education.
The real difference we make to education is what happens every single day in each classroom.
We're delighted to be continuing our Grassroots Coaching Academy, offering free, online CPD to coaches. 😄
The schedule will take place throughout September, with five sessions aimed at developing and improving grassroots coaches.

@LawroR12 I would change the position of the gates so they were behind the defender so the attacker would have to beat the defender. You could also promote twisting and turning by challenging the attackers to unbalance the defender using disguise and feints. What would you do @LawroR12?
