Third motion to call the question! That's a record in my time on the Board. I don't recall it ever being used before. (Maybe I did once?) Motion failed. Debate over possible I-94 expansion continues.
@sup_dist12 The motion to call the question, which ends debate and proceeds straight to a vote, was invoked for the second time today. There was no objection to the motion, so we proceeded straight to the vote. The $1M expenditure was approved.
Now discussing repairing the historic Lake Park bridge, which got into dangerous state of disrepair. Money was raised for repair, incl. $300K from the neighbors. Pandemic drove repair costs way up. Humble request for the cash coming from 3rd dist. Sup.
County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson @Marci4MKE has "passed the gavel" to the first vice chair, which makes Sup. Taylor the interim chairperson, so that Chw. Nicholson may speak on the item we are considering.
A role call has been requested on item 3, "From the Milwaukee County Clerk, Office of the County Clerk, providing an informational report regarding Files Referred to Standing Committees." Odd.
Two years ago tomorrow, Milwaukee County declared racism to be a public health crisis and committed itself to achieving racial equity. It's been great to see other cities and counties follow our precedent and join us in bending history toward the better. https://t.co/eoD118fCK1
Now hearing about the new @mkecounty seal. You probably know the 56-year-old county seal with the yellow "M"s surrounding the large black "M" representing the manufacturing plants in the county, and all kinds of embedded symbolism.
