“By all means, tell me it’s an option not to carry that shame. That, I might need to hear. But don’t tell me I ‘shouldn’t’ or ‘mustn’t’ feel it, as that would be a bit, well…shaming.”

“This is not a blog to debate whether or not survivors of #CSA within the family should cut off contact with their families. It’s a post to acknowledge that neither decision is easy. Both come with challenges - mainly a huge amount of sadness or grief.

Thank you to the survivor community for your support this year. Please take a moment to read our ‘Year in Review.’ We couldn’t do this work without this support. Thank you 🌸 #CSA
@TheFlyingChild It was, they finally spoke to my isva about it, told her it was best if I spoke to a therapist instead. I'd just spent a year in therapy which gave me the confidence to report it. All I hoped was to give police a name and tell them what he'd done, it made me feel silenced again.
If you are a survivor of CSA, what is the least trauma-informed thing a professional has said to you?
A therapist once told me “there’s no point in looking back, you’re an adult now - not a child.” (I just told her I wanted to talk about my childhood)
