@sapiotextual@MeetGemDeMilo@PGHCityPaper This is why I still sometimes prefer to identify as poly*amor*ous instead of as ethically non-monogamous. My emphasis is on feeling love for people, regardless of whether that manifests in sexual or romantic intimacy or in intimacy that would more typically be labeled friendship.
Sex, when practiced with intention, becomes sacred. So does chopping vegetables, eating, washing dishes, scrubbing toilets, and any other human activity. We often long for transcendence or think it's the peak of spirituality. But *integration* offers more lasting joy.
Tantra teaches that we can use the power of attention, our concentrated awareness, to dissolve the mind and immerse ourselves into pure presence, into the infinite field of awareness from which all things arise, achieving feelings of bliss, through the most ordinary experiences.
A rare classical tantric technique (vs the many modern neo-tantric ones) about sex. It's from a 10th-c. manual of simple embodied practices for connecting to our essence nature, several of which focus on a single sensation, like the taste of chocolate dissolving on the tongue.
“At the end of love-making one should cast one’s mind to the point between the genitals and the navel (the kanda). As the bliss of orgasm is fading, one may suddenly become ‘waveless’.” -- The Blossoming of Innate Awareness (Svabodhodaya-mañjarī), by Vīranātha (trans. C. Wallis)
During my chat with @sapiotextual on @NotHustlingPod last week, I never shared the story of my 2004 Alaskan awakening through chakra-stimulated s*x. To read/listen in detail, continue to the full story at the end of the short version of my origin story:

Bring a group of SWers together, feed them tiny sandwiches & tea, and the next thing you know, they go totally wild! 😂 Grateful to be part of such a wonderful community of peers! This is merely a sampling of all the folx who took a turn on the pole. @TheJosieOakley @KiwiKitten6
@angelicanoi The week or so I spent in Spain as a twenty-five-year-old solo traveler, including a few days with a local lover who spoke no English and gave me an insider's tour of her hometown of Valencia, certainly helped deepen my "Americano" appreciation of the culture.
