@glennsumi@nowtoronto Thank you, Glenn. I understand this all stems from a story The Canadian Press ran, I have reached out to them as well. I appreciate the correction and your prompt reply.
@glennsumi my father, David Fox, did NOT "die of cancer in a Toronto hospice". He beat fucking cancer 5 years ago after his chemo and operation. He died peacefully in palliative care from age related natural causes, he was 80 and lived live to it's fullest.
@abresge My father, David Fox, did not die in a "Toronto hospice..after a long battle with cancer". He beat fucking cancer 5 years ago after the chemo and operation. It was not a "long battle", he kicked it's fucking ass like the tough SOB he was.
Beating cancer was a great source of pride for him, as it is for ALL who do. He died peacefully in palliative care from age related natural causes, he was fucking 80 and lived a full life.
@sarahfunkmaster@ServiceCanada_E@fordnation@JustinTrudeau Try calling right when they open at 18005317555. When you eventually get the automated message, DON'T enter your SIN and access code. After a moment, you'll be given the main menu with options 1-5. Press 0 to get to an operator. You'll be on hold for a long time, but it worked!
@jjac0b_@vodkasodatime@evRocioE Been to the grocery store lately? Seen the list of essential services? Up until a few days ago, dispensaries and hardware stores were an essential service. But not in person Service Canada? I see your point but what constitutes essential, in the eyes of the country, is skewed.
@cristinarsaad @trisarah__tops @ServiceCanada_E@sarahfunkmaster I was considering that as well, but they have dire warnings for those who apply for both.
@ServiceCanada_E@sarahfunkmaster I'm in the same boat. Haven't been able to get through for the past week and a half. Website says I need to call and talk to a representative to provide more information. Called over 900 times.
Bailing out the banks, airlines, big business, during crisis, or sometimes of their own fault, is common practice. But when it comes to small business and the hospitality industry during a global pandemic? You're on your own. Unreal.
“Rent has to stop... There needs to be some support here. Leaving it up to the good graces of banks or your landlords is not going to work,” said pub owner Nathan Hynes. “We're not getting any real help… subsidies for jobs that don't exist & loans that put you further into debt"
