We're back for Round Three of @inkcypher.
A cypher is a space of dialogue & a place to build energy so I've commissioned 14 new works on Hip Hip dance which answer, respond to or challenge what has been written by folks in the previous rounds.
This is an #InkCypher.
Attracting positive TV, radio & online coverage, the response to seeing Faraz, Iti, Shazad & Bobak breaking to Deal With It by Riz Ahmed alongside the British Muslim graffiti artist Sam Hussain creating Urdu graffiti about womanhood in public has been absolutely joyous. #HipHop50
On this day in 1973 Cindy Campbell hosted the 'Back To School Jam' at 1520 Sedgewick Ave, The Bronx, NY. This event has come to define the - at that time unnamed - unofficial birth of Hip Hop. 50 years later I've been working as a Producer with @BobakChampion on Salaam'O'Salaam.
A Hip Hop & breaking project aimed at British Bboys & participants of Muslim faith & heritage across Bradford, Salford & Birmingham. With community workshops, a 2 week development lab & public jams it has enabled growth, learning & built a sense of community for participants.

Join Bobak, Faraz 'RazzleRoc' Khan & an exciting line up of special guests for 2 weeks of intensive cyphering & specialist Hip Hop training.
The Salaam'O'Salaam Hip Hop & Breakin’ Lab is for anyone who identifies as male and/or non-binary, is able to commit to at least 6 out of the 10 sessions & is aged 16+.
Priority will be given to those who identify as Muslim or who have Muslim heritage.
I've been invited to present at #DCDC23 conference later this week which is led by @britishlibrary, @Jisc & @UkNatArchives. Sharing with international archive professionals about the literary archival innovation that is @InkCypher & oral histories of Hip Hop dance in the UK.
