@DMG_Investors FortisBC has not publicly tied the Christina Lake project to any single large customer. The utility’s public materials present the work as a general system capacity and reliability improvement for the region rather than a response to one specific interconnection request.
@DMG_Investors The Malahat Nation does have access to a decommissioned powerline they want to re-activate but upgrades there would also be required because it is likely out of commission due to its current poor condition. This line was mentioned in 2024 by Tristan Gale - director of development
@DMG_Investors Sadly the Malahat Nations transmission lines and substation capacity is currently near capacity so if they were to be awarded any more power it would take 10s of millions to make the upgrades required.
@MarcNixon24 The Canadian voter has been long suffering a type of Stockholm syndrome that keeps them voting in the very government that leaves them hungry and poor. Vote them out and keep them out for a decade and things will begin to change.
@MarcNixon24 The lefties will never put the citizens of Canada first but we keep electing them so we need to address the failure of the voters to recognize they are responsible for their own demise.
@DMG_Investors I believe that spring of 2021 was the first time Sheldon spoke about adding an additional site; then in May of 2023 they said in a news-release that they entered into a non-binding agreement for a second site located outside of BC. Nailing down a second site may be awhile yet.
@MsRachelKersey I have heard that battery power is being considered as well as gas. The current back up power is for short down times to keep the basics for their bitcoin mining going. They have had good fortune with very little curtailment over the past years as a note.
@DMG_Investors@dmgblockchain Let's hope that this rebranding can break the strangle hold that Balance and Tetra have here in Canada – even a small piece of the $5 Bil they hold in assets would be a big accomplishment for a small startup.
@DMG_Investors 15MW firm power, need backup power (battery), liquid cooling 12MW, timelines are ambitious, probability of reducing the scale of an AI starter contract here is high.
@DMG_Investors Fortis has a total of 800MW available; DMG receives almost 10% of their power now, 15MW firm. What are the chances that Fortis will allocate more power for a substation upgrade or a second one?
@PrplMjra De-risk AI pivot with a signed contract for more than 10 years with option to renew, stabilize mining revenues, add more SCIF containers and show the market they are on a revenue path from red to black. Then buy back shares on price dips and the market will respond positively.
@ehhellohello@dmgblockchain I would say gambling or betting against the house on small companies with a low chance of delivering shareholder benefits with precious capital needed elsewhere.
@DMG_Investors Some are surmising that DMG is trying to pry open a back door for the electrical upgrades for the Malahat partnership as the CEO of Meetami is the spouse of the CEO/President of BC Hydro. Maybe DMG's name may be dropped over the dinner table.
@MsRachelKersey Bennet has millions of share built significantly through RSU grants plus some exercises. Glover, Abouchar, Place, Sim etc., have accumulated hundereds of thousands of share this way.
@MsRachelKersey Sheldon has made true open-market purchases
Nov. 26, 2024 – 99,461 (total ~C$40K)
Jan. 30, 2025 – 19,955 (total ~C$7K)
Feb. 12, 2025 – (total ~C$4.4K)
Additional smaller buys around early 2025. Total recent open-market buying by him in the low tens of thousands of CAD.
@MsRachelKersey Just to clarify:
In short: No, the CA$130K was not actual cash invested by Bennett. It was the market value of shares received through equity compensation vesting known as RSUs. For RSUs, the recipient does not pay cash to "exercise." shares.
@DMG_Investors The sought after power increase is likely connected to natural gas generation which is required to support their current energy supply. 15MW of firm power is not going to attract too many big players here.
