@RealAndyLeeShow@winsford99 A bit ironic wanting to decolonize wayfinding to stations called KING and QUEEN. Seems like they are tripping over dollar bills to pick up nickels.
@imf_hunt@dirtcheapbanks I earned $10 per house mowing lawns that took me 45 min in 1988.
$22.5k was $11/hr. If a Denny’s waitress was paid $3.35/hr, she’d need to make $7.65/hr in tips to get that salary which was totally doable.
Not. A. Lot. Of. Money.
@imf_hunt@dirtcheapbanks That would have been a salary of $38k which was not an insane amount of money in 1988.
What does minimum wage have to do with anything?
@em_Lazzy I was recently having a conversation about presidents. We talk about President Reagan, President Ford, but then it’s always LBJ and FDR and then it’s just Thomas Jefferson and Abraham Lincoln. Weird, isn’t it?
@DubDublin@Soaringeagle45 And I’ve flown around the world in lie-flat business class and stayed at five star hotels - all on points and miles. So one of us doesn’t know what he’s doing.
If your travel pattern is what you say it and you’ve never redeemed anything you’re sitting on an untapped gold mine.
@DubDublin@Soaringeagle45 I take at least 4 trips a year that are either fully funded by or are greatly supplemented by points. It takes a bit of work but that’s completely outweighed by the free or nearly free travel.
@BoozenBoard@KaiserLoengramm I’ve always been curious about this theory. What the hell did 20-year old conscripts from Iowa know about cuisine in 1945? And honestly, how much different was British cuisine from American at the time?
I feel like this mostly came from Continentals mogging the Brits.
