Is it unfair for record labels to hold on to their artists' master recordings (masters)?
In this post, I try to explain why it isn't always so black and white.

No be today. Prince had "SLAVE" boldly inscribed on his cheeks as a form of protest against his recording contract. In the end, he still had to honour his deal.
Years later, he negotiated a deal to get his masters back from the same label, in good faith. It's the music business.
They “forged” your signature, but na to sign split sheets make your producers see food chop 😭
Appaz you no sabi say your management get right to represent you in those matters?
My objections are:
1) Single women should not be encouraged to leave their father's headship (this stands contrary to Scripture)
2) Single women should not be encouraged to go get an advanced degree (you get a degree to get a job outside the home, obviously a man's domain, biblically speaking)
3) They should be instructed, in line with Paul, to continue serving in the household, with headship, next to a godly mother. The best place for her to learn how to be a mother is in the home, with a mother.
4) Her father should actively seek a husband for her. He plays a pivotal role in vetting suitors, even as Abraham sought a wife for his son, Isaac.
5) Blaming men or women isn't really helpful. Both are pretty terrible in different ways.
6) When women pursue degrees, rack up debt, and then chase careers, this actually hurts their marriageable status—men would have to inherit a boss babe, debt, etc.
The vile replies to this video are further evidence as to why many godly women remain single today—a dearth of godly and NORMAL young men. Sorry, but I wouldn’t want my daughters to marry whiney cowards who have nothing better to do than wait around on Twitter all day for the next dunk.
Her point was clearly that God can and does use women for his glory in their singleness. A woman need not be married to glorify God and enjoy him forever.
@BrianZisook That's a lot.
However, I do that "We need new music" pleas is proof of genuine love from fans (except when it gets weird/toxic). The alternative is just forgetting about the artist, which nobody wants.
Pastor Adeboye emptied the infrastructures of their fellowships in the North East campuses into the IDPs in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
When we got to Borno in 2017, we met empty spaces. I wrote a letter to him from Maiduguri, I told him all we needed, running into millions of naira. He sent the money to us. Everything I wrote in the letter was sent. I would write to him every quarter giving him update about all of us in the fellowship and request additional money. He will still send it.😅
I coordinated one of his largest intervention program in Maiduguri. A training and certification course for students in Architecture, Urban planning etc… thousands of students from Ramat Polytechnic, University of Maiduguri etc… it was one of his programs to uplift a society battered by insurgencies and the economy of the state crashed. A program meant to give a future to them by upgrading their skillset.
His greatest strength of not showing off is the reason many people, even his church members do not know 2% of his works.

This matter will not be litigated on Instagram Stories and Twitter time line.
Time and again, we have seen these issues play out between artists and labels. Reducing contractual terms and legal disputes to online jabs won’t change anything.
Artists tend to have the public on their side, but in legal cases, the voice of the public is not the voice of god.
As unfortunate and undesirable as this may be, the reality is the facts.
Our language around governance is so interesting in Nigeria. We talk like when someone wins an election, the money and resources of the state become their personal largesse and any progress or work that happens is because they’re kind enough to “dash” us.
