@dajmeyer@markonhiatus@Kristen_Taketa@TheRealBeccaWi1@sdschools@SDeducators Point taken, but I also think that an anti-choice position actually does have consequences for board decisions and, even more, does not exist in isolation from other values. I lay out my perspective here: https://t.co/3vhtZTtrZZ
@dajmeyer@markonhiatus@Kristen_Taketa@TheRealBeccaWi1@sdschools@SDeducators Sorry, I’ve stayed away from the distraction of social media in the final stretch. Someone just flagged this for me. There’s nothing “oppo” about it. Becca tried to conceal the fact that she’s a pro-life Republican. I thought voters should know. My disclaimer’s right there.
As I lifelong supporter of a woman’s right to choose, I could not be prouder to have earned the endorsement of the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. I am committed to supporting the work of @PPFA, which has become even more essential in the wake of the Dobbs decision. @PPPSWHealth
Whoa, @91X is back! Sat in my car an extra minute to hear the end of @violentfemmes#additup, got back in my car and @PIXIES#digforfire was playing. Didn’t know how badly I’d missed it!
I wanted to thank @JakobMcwhinney for his thoughtful profile on my campaign for SDUSD, Brittany Cruz-Fejeran for her sensitive portraits, and @voiceofsandiego for covering the race and San Diego education issues more broadly. https://t.co/ccRWE0O7L2
@JamesHMackay@JesseJenkins The measure you’ve chosen—total energy supply—is a little deceptive. Renewables exceed 40% of German energy production, and they would have been far better off if they’d moved more aggressively to wean themselves off Russian natural gas and electrify their vehicle fleet.
@okkervilriver I was just thinking about this the other day. My mom took me to see Bob Dylan for my 15th bday and the Pogues opened and I heard “Turkish Song of the Damned” and that was that. Or the cassette a friend’s older sister made with A-Queen is Dead/B-Life’s Rich Pageant. Magical stuff.
I’ve been too busy to follow the #UkraineWar regularly & closely, but these US-supplied #HIMARS are HAMMERING Russian command & control, ammunition depots, and bridges in occupied #Ukraine. There are only 16 in country so far and they’re already transforming the conflict.
The decline is largely driven by “climate change-fueled wildfire and drought.” Our state and region have to shift to a stewardship attitude, not only fighting fires and reducing risks (& reducing GHG emissions), but quickly moving to restore forests in the wake of fire.
Thank you again to @jemersmith at @sdut for almost single-handled keeping forest health reporting alive in San Diego. According to new UC Irvine study, forests in #SoCal “have shrunk by 14 percent since 1985.” https://t.co/N4pCKXurvQ
The family that Informational Pickets together, stays together. Proud to stand with my family — along with 1,300 other Southwest Airlines Pilots Association Union members in Dallas today — who 896 days ago proposed a new, industry-leading contract. #IStandWithSWAPA
@mcotteri@LiamSBarrett Yes, the rain shadow is the consequence of the fog/precipitation, since the moisture precipitating out as it rises over the mountains leaves the air dry as it continues east. But it does similar up the coast. The mystery is why not throughout the peninsular & transverse ranges.🤔
@mcotteri@LiamSBarrett Interesting. I mean, technically what happens is that moist air comes off the ocean and condenses into fog or precipitates out as rain, snow, etc. but why it happens to such a degree in our foothills rather than up the coast, not sure. Maybe monsoonal moisture from the south.
“Sorry, I was waiting for the drums to kick in on @PhilCollinsFeed’s ‘In the Air Tonight,’ will always be an adequate explanation for tardiness to me. #intheairtonight#philcollins
@NCapretz@AirResources Grim, getting grimmer. It’s hard to imagine how even well-intentioned elected leaders could overcome such a colossal headwind of public indifference. And that’s assuming the existence of well-intentioned leaders…
Legendary Dr Paul Farmer: “The biggest problems facing us are structural—around poverty, gender inequality, disregard for others for many reasons—they are the fruit of an adoration and worship of a neoliberal order in which every person is a commodity.” #AIDS2018@AIDS_conference
@davydavidoff Having spent years working in collaboration with USFS, CALFIRE, USFWS, NRCS on collection, germination, nursing, outplanting, protection, supplemental watering, on and on, I can confirm this. Honestly, seedlings need to already be sitting in Placerville when the fire hits.
