💬 Trustees were pleased to hear of the Government’s intentions to compile an Inventory of Living Heritage, of which festivals will be one of the seven categories. Trustees agreed to encourage the public to nominate the Feast when the call for submissions opens in the summer.

🐂 At their April 2025 meeting, Trustees discussed plans for this year’s Houghton Feast ox roasting and agreed to further involve local food banks after the success of the sell-out ox roasting event at Houghton Feast 2024.

🎤 Trustees looked forward to finally brining back The Voice of Houghton-le-Spring singing competition with online auditions and the chance for the winner to perform at Houghton Feast 2025.

For every sandwich sold at the Houghton Feast whole ox roasting, one is being donated to a local food bank. ❤️🐗

A roasted whole ox, prepared overnight by volunteers from The Houghton Feast Trust, will be served up in sandwiches in the grounds of The Old Rectory, where the first oxen were roasted by Houghton’s 16th century Rector Bernard Gilpin to feed his hungry parishioners.

Trustees had a short meeting tonight to discuss the forthcoming festival of Houghton Feast. Boris the Dog was voted in as a new Trustee! He is particularly looking forward to the roasted ox!
