The Halo Code 👸🏾

We’re a group of black students working towards the destigmatisation of afro hair within schools. Diversifying dress codes one halo at a time! #ADOPTTHECODE

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

Happy Sunday everyone! We hope you’ve had a lovely start to the new year and term🤍 🤍
Even though sadly we aren’t physically in school right now you can still take steps to become a Halo School before in-person learning starts. #ADOPTTHECODE #HALOHAIR please retweet& share!

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

@_itstoff congratulations! great topic choice 🤍

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

Leading by example! And this is why we need all schools & workplaces to adopt the code to stop this discrimination from happening

[Antoine Allen @AntoineSpeaker]

Hair up or hair down?
People ask why I have #dreadlocks. Because Black children & adults are still discriminated for their natural hair in employment & schools.
Hopefully they can use me as an example to say “if Antoine can report the news with his hair in locks, why can’t i?”

[💎Diamond @chez_sheree]

My sis told us natural hair ONLY for her wedding day!🧡 #thecarrollcasa

[Ash @theashrb]

Afro hair is the most unique hair textures on Earth lol I can't believe folks expect us to hate the beautiful hair that naturally grows from our heads.

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

Big thank you to @marieclaire for the Beauty Gives Back Award! 🤍 Were proud to be raising awareness for such a salient issue and hope that the impact of the code will continue to be felt for years to come! ✨#ADOPTTHECODE

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

Thank you for taking the leap and helping end hair discrimination!❤️👏🏽

[C̳r̳a̳i̳g̳m̳o̳u̳n̳t̳ ̳pupil ̳s̳u̳p̳p̳o̳r̳t̳ @pupilsupportCHS]

We've adopted the @TheHaloCode. You will see info related to this around school soon. If you want more info or want to discuss embracing different cultures within @CraigmountHS please come and talk to us.

[Dove UK & Ireland @DoveUK]

📣 Real beauty should be welcome in all institutions. We stand against race-based discrimination and we’re proud to see young people standing up to discriminatory dress codes. Let’s continue to #TakeAction through the @TheHaloCode and end #HairDiscrimination 💪

[The Halo Code 👸🏾 @TheHaloCode]

We stand in complete solidarity with the protesting students, and urge schools to sign onto the Halo Code to prevent black students ever feeling like their appearance is a burden in their own school #ADOPTTHECODE #THEHALOCODE

[Barnaby Raine @BarnabyRaine]

School student heroes at Pimlico Academy walk out after their headteacher bans afros and colourful hijabs. They call it racism.
Ten minutes down the road on the very same day, Etonians in parliament announce there is no institutional racism in Britain. Whose side are you on?

[Kate Williams @KateRoseWill]

Where is the accountability?
Schools can impose any hair rules on pupils, even racist ones! @educationgovuk ... make 'appearance' policies statutory so you can protect pupils.
Schools... look at @TheHaloCode and sign up.
Schools... celebrate #BigHairAssembly with @worldafroday

[Alleyn's School @AlleynsSchool]

We are excited @Alleyns_School to have signed up to @TheHaloCode, the UK's first Black hair code, and to champion the right of our staff and pupils to embrace all Afro hairstyles. More: https://t.co/O8z7WQrJH4. @thehalocltv

[Mrs Mwiti @MrsAMwiti]

@MissNGrace This is absolutely unacceptable, and I hope your sister isn’t feeling too upset😔 Black children across the UK are still being punished for their natural hair. We should encourage every school to accept @TheHaloCode and work towards de-stigmatisation of black hairstyles!!

POLLUTION ZONE

Did you know the air in #Catford is dangerously polluted?

@ChokedUp_UK put up signs to make sure that passers by think twice about the air they’re breathing.

We’re making the invisible visible.

[Linklaters LLP @LinklatersLLP]

We are pleased to announce that we have adopted @thehalocode, the UK’s first Black hair code, championing and protecting the rights of individuals to embrace all Afro-hairstyles in the workplace. Find out more below.

[Amrit Birdi @AmritITV]

Here's the second half of my piece on #afro hair discrimination. Corporations like @ProcterGamble have adopted @TheHaloCode to help fight the issue, but for many there is still a way to go until progress is felt.

Around 3hrs and 20mins in you can hear me and a wonderful Y9 student from @BristolBrunel talking about adopting @TheHaloCode at our school 👸🏽👸🏽

My heart burst at the point she said the school is a safe space for young people in our community 🥰

[SIMON HANCOCK 📻 @newsmansimon]

This is fantastic news @Cabotfederation's @BristolBrunel first school in the city to adopt the @TheHaloCode No Black staff or students should have to change their natural or protective hairstyle in order to thrive at school https://t.co/2ASfq4AphX
