Our walk today took us from Debdale Park, along the Ashton Canal, through the Moravian Settlement and back to Debdale. An interesting walk with a history lesson included. And we didn't get wet-again!!!
Despite the snow and ice we had a good turnout for our Annual Meeting this evening. We had a cake competition, made angel decorations and the craft group brought items they had made. We re-elected Kate as our president and the committee remains the same as last year.
Members of our WI handed out slices of cake and cookies to celebrate World Kindness Day. Lots of kind comments and a chance to chat with lovely people.
Commemorating Remembrance Sunday at St. Paul's Church, Heaton Moor and St. John's Church Heaton Mersey. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
Another great walk today around Media City, Ordsall park and hall, along the river Medlock into the city. Overcast but no rain. Lovely ladies to walk and chat with.
Another lovely walk with good company and great weather. We walked to Fletcher Moss along the river Mersey, through the park and back along the tram footpath.
At our monthly meeting we had a talk by Dr. Rachel Holt, a consultant plastic surgeon specialising in breast reconstruction. The comments members made were that she was inspirational and they had found her presentation thoroughly enjoyable.
Our monthly walk took us from Chorlton Water Park along the river, through Chorlton Ees and back along the river. Good weather as it wasn't too warm and it didn't rain. Good company as always.
Members of Culture Club had an interesting tour of Victoria Baths in Manchester today. We were told about the history of the three pools, Turkish baths, bathing and laundry facilities. Lots of events are held there as well as being used for filming of TV programs and music videos
Our monthly meeting this month we met Baroness Bolsover who educated us in the etiquette of the afternoon tea party. Very entertaining and informative. We had scones with jam and cream or cream and jam depending on your preference.
@MarinaPurkiss Aren't applications for school places for this year closed? Ours did in December last year. They are probably in the process of appeals for those children who didn't get their preferred school so parents like this are at the bottom of the pile. What a shame.
