🚀 We are pleased to announce a new $8 million project to industrialize Canada’s first hybrid additive-subtractive manufacturing line for the production of high-performance turbopumps for space launch, including $3.2 million in support from Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (@NGen_Canada) under the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program. The project directly advances the sovereign industrial objectives of Canada’s new Defence Industrial Strategy, and links sovereign launch with sovereign manufacturing.

The consortium, led by NordSpace Corp., includes Miltera Machining Research Corp., Pegmatis Inc., and Prime Powders Inc., in partnership with Indigenous-owned Bear Paw Manufacturing, all 100% Canadian-owned companies. Together, the consortium will be delivering a domestically owned capability for producing rocket propulsion hardware at the cost, cadence, and quality required for routine sovereign access to space.

The project integrates large-format metal additive manufacturing at NordSpace's Advanced Manufacturing for Aerospace Lab (AMA Lab), AI-driven in-situ quality control, precision 5-axis machining, and a resilient Canadian materials supply chain, forming a cohesive production system owned and operated by Canadian SMEs.

Canada has decided to move forward with Saab GlobalEye as its new airborne capability for Airborne Early Warning and Control. I look forward to welcoming Canada into the GlobalEye family.

GlobalEye is a highly modern and capable system that now has earned the trust of a fourth country, in addition to Sweden, France and the UAE.

By operating Global Eye, Canada strengthens its ability to safeguard their sovereignty while contributing to NATO’s collective defence, including being a vital asset for surveillance and control of the Arctic region.

As the GlobalEye is based on the Canadian Bombardier Global 6500 platform, GlobalEye is already creating jobs in Canada, and working with the Canadian supply chain. This decision ties our two nations even closer together.

· National strategy coming: NRCan announced a new framework at the Canadian Nuclear Association Conference on April 29, final strategy due by end of 2026

· Four pillars: new builds across Canada; global export leadership; expanded uranium and fuel cycle; next-gen innovation across fission and fusion

· Military angle: DND allocating $40M (2026–2027) to assess Canadian-controlled microreactors for remote and Arctic bases, energy sovereignty in focus

· Chalk River: $2.2B over 10 years into Canada’s national nuclear lab spanning SMRs, fuels, CANDU, and safety and security

· Uranium backbone: ~24% of global supply (2024), largely from Saskatchewan, $2.6B economic impact

· System scale: 17 CANDU reactors produce ~13% of Canada’s electricity; nuclear sector contributes ~$22B annually

Canada is moving beyond resource supplier to full-spectrum nuclear power, fuel cycle, SMRs, large reactors, and defense applications. Darlington was the start. This makes it policy.
