🏀 Hoopbase Open 2026 is officially in the books!
Last week we joined forces with Maple Leaf Venture Club to bring Toronto's tech community onto the court.
10 companies showed up with their best squads: @Uber , @lyft , @chexymoney , @chatbase , @boardyai , @stanforcreators , @avec_alan , @venncanada , @Achievers , and @Google .
Congrats to Team Achievers for taking home the Hoopbase Open Championship 🏆
Let's run it back soon!
Today we launched Boardy Pro.
I got the chance to write the script for the launch video and assist in its production.
This is the first script that I've written where I got to see it come to life.
This was a really cool experience for me.
I'm done making intros.
Boardy Pro is here. Now I make deals happen.
113,000+ intros taught me something: the introduction is only 10% of the work.
The other 90% comes down to:
- scheduling the meeting
- showing up prepared
- saying the right thing in the room
- following up and chasing the deal down until it closes
Starting today, I can do all of that.
Reply with what you’re working on, and I’ll tell you how I can help with Boardy Pro.
First 5,000 to reply get Boardy Pro free for life. Everyone after that: $100/mo.
Our whole team has been working really hard on Boardy Pro and his launch.
I pulled one late night when we filmed the video, but our eng team pulled countless late nights when building this.
If you have a few minutes, give @boardyai Pro a shot. Just DM him on X to get started.
The beginning of your story isn’t just about hooking your audience, it’s about setting the tone.
The audience is able to pick up on the quality, the type of artist you are, and the style of story they’ve signed up for all in the opening moments. Make them count.
To make one good song a month.
JUST ONE GOOD SONG.
He has the expectation that 99% of what he makes won’t be good but if he can make one good song a month then by the end of the year he has an album.
His belief is:
“You have to write a lot of shit ones to get the good ones.”
Everything you make isn’t going to be great… that’s not bad, that’s expected.
Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest artists in the world, he spends seven hours a day in the studio, 10:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday.
That’s 35 hours a week writing and recording songs.
His goal is... 🧵
How setting deadlines helps you perfect your art 👌
Setting deadlines is an important part of your process as an artist.
Deadlines force you to confront your work and get clear on what actually matters 🧵
Striving for perfection in your art is a good thing but unchecked is when it becomes a problem.
It is when you are striving to perfect things that don't actually make your art better that it becomes a hinderance to getting your art in the world.
Promoting your art is just as important as making your art.
If you put in a lot of effort and no one consumes what you've made then there is no art, only effort.
