my mom once told me “accountability will always feel like an attack when you are not ready to acknowledge how your behavior harms others” and that shit is real.
- Blade cancelled
- Wonder Man cancelled
- Monica is MIA
- Ironheart was barely marketed
- Armor Wars is dead
- Cap 4 was sabotaged by the studio
- Sam is sidelined for Steve in Doomsday
This is not a coincidence.
There is a Japanese Legend that says:
"Whether it's a machine, a house, or a relationship. Maintenance is always cheaper than repairing." What you don't maintain, you eventually lose.
1) Because it has zero bearing on your ability to learn. Zero.
2) They start with bonnets, and next thing you know they're telling you can't wear certain types of clothes, either.
3) And because historically when you start policing people's clothes, you start to unnecessarily police other things as it pertains to their bodies, too. It is a slippery slope.
Most importantly, it is rooted in white supremacist ideals around how Black people should "present" themselves in public in order to be deemed worthy of respect.
Being in a relationship means you must love someone the way they need you to, not just in the way that is comfortable for you. Because it's a reminder that love is not only about what I prefer giving, it's also about how the other person actually receives it. Real love takes effort, emotional maturity, and the willingness to meet each other halfway, not just show up when it feels easy.
When people say communication is the foundation of a relationship, they skip the part that makes it even possible. Consideration is one of the highest forms of love. It's not flowers. It's not grand gestures. It's pausing before you speak because you know how they receive words. It's remembering the small things they mentioned once and never forgot. It's adjusting, not because you were asked, but because you were paying attention. Consideration means someone is always in your thoughts even when they're not in the room. And when two people are truly considering each other, you don't even have to ask anymore. They just know.
Because feelings are fleeting. They are influenced by mood, by circumstance, by the way someone said good morning or the way they did not text back fast enough. If you build a relationship on how someone makes you feel, you are building on sand. One bad week, one argument, one moment of distance, and the whole thing shakes. But when you build on who you are becoming, you build on something solid. You build on growth, on alignment, on mutual evolution.
Am I growing? Am I becoming more secure, more regulated, more expressive? Or am I shrinking? Am I becoming more anxious, more doubtful, more disconnected from myself?
If none of the growth is happening, you should not be there. No matter how you feel. No matter how much history you share. No matter how much you love them. If you are not becoming a better version of yourself, the relationship is not serving you. It is holding you back. And love is not supposed to hold you back. It is supposed to propel you forward.
Don't let "Korra is the worst Avatar" discourse distract you from the fact that Roku let firelord Sozin be overly imperalist cause that was his dl trade
