@HitTheByline He's good defending the penalty box. Dominant in the air. Good tackling. Decent pace. Good passing
But we play a high line and his positioning isn't great and he leaves big gaps and he's got a big mistake in him.
He'd be brilliant for a team who defend more and further back
@scotball_ Milne maybe but 1st season of any great substance at 29 and behind 2 or 3 players.
Burke 1 goal and no assists in 15. No thanks
Miller having a good season but miles off midfielders already in the squad
Findlay Curtis as a young wildcard maybe
McPake similar but playing in champ
@aboutceltic@mcgowan_stephen FORr next to nothing and a wage cut is a no-brainer but i'd only have him back on the basis that there's someone of decent quality deputising or rotating with him at LB. He's missed over 100 games through injury since he left us and has recurring knee/hamstring issues
@kevinmcgoldrick@CraigCelt And we took a point off Athletico this year at home and if big baldy hadn't touched the ball with his toenail Palmas goal stands and you're looking at a 2-1 win rather than a 2-1 stoppage time defeat with Lazio.
Fine margins. Still agree with the squad issues though
@kevinmcgoldrick@CraigCelt And we've spoken to higher calibre players and they end up in England, France, Greece Turkey
The leagues no attractive and there are teams in and outwith the top 5 leagues who can offer better financial packages and offer better lifestyles to guys actually worth more. Catch 22
@kevinmcgoldrick@CraigCelt Both can be true. Squad no good enough but we can't be saying that the red didn't hurt us and didn't help Copenhagen. The point being made is they got results so why aren't we. Fact is they wouldn't have and all the teams spending like we do are on 0-4 points
@ETimsNet@chris_sutton73 And Podence, Rieder, Livakovic, Tete, Souza, Larsson, Solbakken. Just a few more established names we were linked with that went to Turkey, Greece, France, England and Denmark
We're not an attractive league for established players and our financial packages don't outweigh that.
@ETimsNet@chris_sutton73 They were well on course to another defeat until the red card and would be on 1 point like us so hardly the Cinderella story you're trying to paint.
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic And we can improve in every position realistically but with the money we'd need to spend to replace any of the starting 3 midfielders considering what we'd sell them for i can't see it happening. Could probably buy a better keeper and left back for what youd spend replacing one
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic I wouldn't have thrown him in last night, 30 minutes at the weekend to ease him in or that but it's done now. Match fit that doesn't happen. And i agree, think Starfelts great but always felt he needed an experienced head beside him. Never as good when ccv was out
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic Gk/ lb definitely the weak points, although CCV lost us that game last night. No going to get better in midfield without breaking the transfer record. Wingers an issue. recruits aren't close to jotas level. Don't think starfelt makes a difference but matchfit CCV does for me
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic Based on what though? Conceded 3 goals in the 150 mins he played albeit he looked decent and you canny tell me you watched him last year at Legia to make your opinion ๐ on merit and performances its scales to lose for me. Position needs earned no given cause you cost more.
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic And i'd argue he's shown more ability and better performance levels than any of the other cb's currently at the club so far so on merit deserves to be 1st choice until he's outperformed. Can still be wanting a better player to replace him but both can be true.
@kevinmcgoldrick@aboutceltic Ralstons shown he can perform to a decent level but inconsistantly. Best games have seen him praised for his effort n rarely his ability. Scales has put in multiple motm performances and shown more ability than what we expected. Can still aim high but needs to be a pathway
