The Vegan Diet is a silly Meme...
A true vegan diet wasnโt even possible before refrigerated transport, fossil fuels and modern supplements. Why? Because without animal foods, youโd die from malnutrition & deficiencies in:
--Vitamin B12 (no plants provide it)
--Heme iron (plants only give poorly absorbed non-heme)
--Zinc (blocked by phytates in grains/legumes)
--Vitamin A (retinol) (plants only give carotenoids, conversion is weak)
--DHA/EPA (plants give ALA, conversion often <5%)
--Creatine, carnitine, taurine (all virtually absent in plants)
--Vitamin K2 (essential for bones and arteries, only in animal foods)
--Choline (especially critical for brain and liver health)
--Vitamin D3 (plants give D2, much less effective)
Before modern supply chains, people had no fortified soy milk, no algae oil pills, no B12 drops, no frozen avocados trucked in from Mexico.
Every known society in history ate animals, fish, meat, eggs, dairy, insects, something.
Not one was vegan, ever.
Veganism isnโt โancestralโ or โnatural.โ Itโs a modern industrial construct, dependent on fossil fuels, factories, refrigeration and supplements...
@PattyMurray Here's what you're forgetting... Healthcare costs first skyrocketed during the @BarackObama administration and have only climbed since. Until the govt gets the healthcare industry out of its pockets Americans will never truly get good healthcare at a reasonable cost.
