Ayer Epic Games Store presumía de que su nuevo launcher (hecho con IA) iniciaba más rápido que el de Steam.
Hoy Steam sacó una nueva actualización y ahora inicia más rápido que el de Epic Games. 😭
We just lost a video game legend 😔
Gaming has lost one of the level designers who helped define the ’90s FPS 🎮
The legendary game designer has passed away at 68, leaving behind a career that helped shape the look, pacing and personality of some of gaming’s most influential titles.
Gray entered the industry after experimenting with Doom maps in his 30s, eventually becoming one of the defining level designers behind Duke Nukem 3D. His environments weren’t simply corridors connecting one firefight to another. They were filled with secrets, jokes, hidden rooms and places players actually wanted to explore.
Some of his most notable works included:
- Duke Nukem 3D (1996)
- Quake Mission Pack No. 1: Scourge of Armagon (1997)
- SiN (1998)
- Half-Life: Opposing Force (1999)
- Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K. 2 (2000)
- American McGee’s Alice (2000)
- Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (2004)
and many more
Gray’s influence reached beyond the games carrying his name in the credits. His approach to environmental storytelling, exploration and level personality helped inspire developers who followed him into the industry.
Players may have completed his levels decades ago, but generations of game designers are still building on ideas he helped make memorable.
Rest in paradise, Levelord. 🤍
